Ah, but they were selling finished baffles. I just want a machinist to be able to make me an "almost" complete baffle stack, legally - ie not complete enough to be used in a can.

But were their kits complete, ie just needing assembly? Or did they need actual machine work?

An AR-15 SBR is in the works but, in pistol caliber firearms I really want a more compact firearm design. The 10.5 inch AR-15 upper by itself is about as long as a lot of the classic SMGs. Eh, you actually can get very compact with an AR platform: http://img261.imageshack.us/img261/1653/mp5comparet...

If the answer is "an incomplete baffle is not a baffle" then someone could probably make a tidy profit selling 80-90% complete baffles or baffle stacks... since they'd just be paperweights, there would be no transfer fee and no SOT needed.

Re: Done with School

Now that she is done with school and going to be working around doctors making the big bucks, I would not be surprised if she got courted by lots of high paid doctor types. If I were you I would feel a lot more secure with a ring on the finger to deterr such attacks. I will be one of them. Entering...

That's what I figured... a related question: when does a baffle become a baffle? Could I have someone make an entire unitized baffle stack with NO bored hole for the bullet to pass through? Seems like that item would not be a silencer yet since it could not be used by anyone.

3rd party component manufacturing?

I have some good can designs in my head, but neither the money nor the time to buy machines and make them myself. Is there an ATF ruling about having someone build a baffle stack for you and then assembling the actual can yourself?

Thanks,

WTS/WTT Talon Arms 9mm SBR upper for AR-15

This is a brand-new Talon Arms 9mm upper for AR-15s. I bought it from Talon for a project that I just haven't had time to complete. The receiver is RRA, the rail is a Samson MRFS-4, and the barrel is a very nice TROS 3-lug, 5" in length. This upper has NEVER been installed, fired, etc. It comes comp...

Re: Issues

Cute girlfriend, not scared of guns, going to make an ass load of money as a career, and you have not taken her off the market for marriage exactly why now? Someone is marginally insane I think. I'm a year into my doctoral studies too... we both have enough on our plates without planning a wedding ...

Re: Poll: Homosexuality is...

This is a serious question. How can it be a serious question when all three poll options very clearly are anti-gay? That's like saying "Michael Moore is: A) An idiot, B) Mentally retarded, or C) Fat and ugly?" Such a question leaves no room for anyone who might agree with Moore. You've left no room...

Not wife (not yet, anyway), just longterm girlfriend. I am a lucky man, she is smart too (about to start her PhD in Pharmacology).

I think there are lots of decent choices... I never understood how Aimpoint gets away with their pricing. Yeah the product is good, but they cost 3x what other decent dot sights do and are NOT 3x better in my experience. I'm a big fan of Docter-style optics, and LaRue now makes nice mounts for them ...
