Re: AAC Honey badger

Also, the Honey Badger is a 3-stamp gun. I don't think people would be lining up to buy one. What is the third stamp for? Exactly what I was wondering, but he wanted to be right so I didn't ask. As Robert noted, one for SBR, one for the integral suppressor, and one for the muzzle suppressor module....

Can you expound on the need for factory barrel? From the outside it seems an odd requirement since better barrels are available that match all your other specs.

Re: 762-SDN-6 Possible Endcap shave/strike. Off-center bore?

Good followup. The mount wobble has been a controversial topic for a long time. Many have had no issues, but some have. The lapping/polishing seems a good fix for those who can do it.

Re: When did the "New 762-SD" start?

The old 762-SD had a flat blast baffle and a couple of cones. IIRC the new one has a bunch of cones, more like the SDN-6, but they are less complex shape-wise so the stack is easier to produce and therefore cheaper. If you look through yours and see more than a couple baffles it's a new one.

Re: Future proofing your cans

I don't really think of QD mounts as "allowing me to mount one can on multiple hosts." I think of QD mounts as "a secure attachment point for this weapon's dedicated silencer." That minimizes the number of mounts I have to worry about buying (but does maximize the number of silencers I own. 8) )

Re: Specwar 556K question

This is not entirely correct, but functionally is true. Many rifle silencer manufacturers (AAC and Surefire come to mind) do endorse using a small amount of water or other ablative medium if the mission absolutely calls for minimizing flash and any possible FRP. However, unless you hunt terrorists i...

No, he doesn't, because no one does. This was all caused by manufacturers who don't know what MAP stands for.

No, it is not. Do not shoot 10 mm through one. The Osprey 45 is rated for 10mm, but the Osprey 40 is not.

What the wife don't know can't hurt you. :-)

Seriously though, the Specwar K is an excellent choice for a duty weapon. It will keep the noise manageable while not being cumbersome.

Most people who do a lot of silencer metering went to computer-based systems a long time ago. Tinkering with these old beasts is probably fun though.

Re: SilencerShop and Liberty Suppressors calling it quits!

Whether or not SilencerShop goes the way of MM, it is true that they are often no longer the price leader on many brands of silencer. I still buy from them regularly because they have great CS but I have saved money on several cans recently by buying elsewhere.

Sig is also releasing one and there have been favorable initial comments on their smaller cans. Kevin Brittingham is their chief designer now.

Re: Best all around rimfire suppressor for my hosts?

SilencerCo's own testing videos show that the Sparrow's FRP is only 1dB on a 16" rifle and that even its FRP is quieter than the Spectre II's average dB rating. The Internet just doesn't understand that cans perform differently on pistols vs rifles, so you have people spouting that the Sparrow has a...

Re: How do I mount?

You should never use a crush washer with a silencer. If you are talking about just replacing the flash hider, you do not need a crush washer since you will be removing it frequently.

Re: Ever wish all stupid hippies would die?

I think that's really hard to quantify. A lot of technological developments that are now useful in everyday life were supposedly spurred or aided by the space race. Plus, in a million years, our descendants will probably want a way off this rock before the sun swallows it. :)

There's an old saying... If you are young and a republican you have no heart. If you are old and a democrat you have no brain. Mostly I'm a libertarian. Firearms are certainly a key issue for me but it has become much harder to vote for any republican since the party basically became the "anti-scien...

Re: Specs to handle a 308 8" barrel?

Thanks guys. Nope, not interested in a 300 blackout. The SBR will be a 308 and likely a G3 8" barrel. So the question now is recommendations on materials to build a suppressor that would stand up to it. Probably the most desirable feature (other than the tube material being robust enough) will be t...

Re: First suppressor... which host?

There are a lot of issues with suppressing AKs, not the least of which is that they are still loud due to the piston venting. XDs and ARs both make excellent suppressor hosts. 9mm will sound a lot better than 5.56 through a silencer. But they would both make fine hosts. You just need to decide if yo...
