Re: Tricks to k baffle orientation

I'm trying to figure out how short you can go and still get good suppression, and trying to see the relationship between diameter and length for Ks. Byrdman I have found with 22lr K Baffles....a smaller diameter tube works best. Check out my build on a suppressed Ruger MKII http://www.silencertalk....

Re: Tricks to k baffle orientation

what is the OD of the Ks you use, and how long are they? Byrdman Those K Baffles in the pic were .865" dia , .600" long. Remember....the buildup was only after 20 rounds. After about 200 rounds the entire length of the suppressor shows deposits. That pic really shows that as the blast enters the ne...

Take the barrels off the uppers. 8)

You should only need spare barrels anyway....not complete uppers.

Had my local Class 02 Mfr do it for me....he had the tool.
Someone here had suggested to go in and back bore your barrel just past the ports to eliminate the worry of the burrs.
Turning the ported area into a muzzle brake.

Re: Traditional blueing on a suppressor?

Sorry no pics.
The Maxim cans I have handled have been "blued".

I had order'd a Stainless 45 suppressor to match my SS Colt 45.
The suppressor came Black....so it got mounted on a blued Colt

Re: Would this be a suppressor part?

Here is a pic of my SPR. The suppressor is a 1980's AWC M22, which is a reflex design and comes back over the barrel 4". Barrel is a Noveske 16" Recon, Rail is Daniel Defense M4 and the suppressor just fits. It took some head scratching to put it all together. http://i246.photobucket.com/albums/gg11...

Re: Ruger MKII Integral

So did I miss it? Can't see where you've said how it sounds. And a question; have you a figure for the volume of air in the over the barrel area? Doesn't look very large considering the 3 x 1/8" ports. Just a couple of cubic centimetres? I'm probably missing something... but it seems the sleeve bet...

Re: Ruger MKII Integral

Very nice! How is the function with the short barrel and ports? A bunch of folks I know are doing uber short MK(i, ii, iii's) for screw-on cans and I've heard there can be some reliability issues. They are doing like 2" barrels though. Cycles Perfectly! CCI Sub's and Standards run at 950fps, CCI Hi...

Ruger MKII Integral

Finally Done! Wish I would of took some pics of milling the parts, I would of deleted the times blood was added. Anyway...started out as a MKII Bull Barrel Target. Had to plan in an adapter as the 1" OD (.065" wall) Stainless Tube just slides over a stock Bull barrel. The next smaller wall was .049"...

Re: Has anyone tried a cone and flat baffle?

What caliber?
If it's for a pistol caliber or rimfire, you'd be better off with K's.
I'd go with cones (clipped or not) for rifle calibers.
You could post a drawing of your complete stack.
You will get recommendations on where to tweak it.

Capt....Thanks for posting the pic of your MK9.
I have early MK9 & MK9K cans with the early bent washer/spacer setups.
Always wanted to have one recored with K's.
Looks like yours, 1st "K" is stainless and the others are aluminum?
Rear diffuser has larger holes than my units too.
Sweet!!!

I would think an MK9 design using K Baffles would be awesome 8)
That's the route I would go, either way....use K Baffles.

Re: Tricks to k baffle orientation

Here is a pic of K baffles after about 20 rounds of 22lr that were placed opposite to the previous one. Notice that the blast follows the mouse hole of the K before it. (left to right) Would you think this placement gives an easier path forward for the gases. :?: Is this good or bad :?: I think it l...

Interesting Youtube find....freeze plug suppressor kit.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kvDu_z3qUfU

A friend forwarded this to me....the guys in my backyard, but I've never dealt with him.
I fugure the tools are ok and are up to the end user to be compliant.
But, replacement threaded end caps, how are those not considered suppressor parts?

Thanks for posting.....looks like a great project. I just wished I took the time to take pics when working on something. I know I may be getting kicked for asking this question. But at what point does this factory barrel become a suppressor part. I've seen target bull barrels with single or staggere...

Re: Uuggghhh... possible for a brake mount to cause keyholin

I too have never seen a target with perfect keyholing like that.
I've been lucky and never had a problem with a factory length barrel.
On Ruger 10/22 barrels that I have cut down I have had a couple keyhole problems
but recrowning the barrel has always corrected it.....but that was 22lr.
