Re: Reloading bench progress

Well, the wife would kill me if she caught me welding in the house again. So I had to measure twice and build it out in the shop.

Reloading bench progress

It is 3/4" box tube that makes up a 5" truss making it quite strong an still light enough I won't mess up the wood floor. The adjustable padded feet also help out. Couldn't fit all of the most used equipment on at one time so there is a bottom shelf to hold them and an air compressor a fri...

Computer controlled 1050

The first run of the PLC controlled 1050 was a success. Along with the auto drive I added a PLC that controls the motor. There is an up and down limit switches that are on a clock so if the tool head doesn’t reach either in the allotted time the timer times out and stops the motor, this keeps the cl...

Re: Anybody Recognize This Powder?

From the photo it looks like a mix. Mostly Winchester 748, a bit of Ramshot TAC and a dash of Splenda or it could be Cream of wheat.

Re: Is the Dillon XL 650 Worth It?

I have 2 550s and 2 650s (had to buy an extra set for another State)
I have the extras so I never have to change out the primer system.

Re: Is the Dillon XL 650 Worth It?

. I basically have regretted the upgrade form the 550 to the 650 from day 1
I have at least 1 of every Dillon and will swap you a brand new 550 for your 650, if you want to get back to the happy side of life.

Re: Is the Dillon XL 650 Worth It?

People that shun progressives for accurate rifle or discount the speed they bring to the process are either trying to fool themselves so they can save money or don't load enough to justify a progressive and think "if its a long drawn out process it has to be better". In any case, for round...

Re: Anyone suppressed a .50 beowulf ?

Nothing very fancy on the threaded end, just a longer "flash hider" style baffle machined to accept a .025" thick 1" od 4130 tube and an endcap machine to fit the other end. http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o213/jmorrismetal/can/458socom/weld1.jpg http://i121.photobucket.com/al...

Re: Anyone suppressed a .50 beowulf ?

I built one for my 458 socom. They use magnum pistol powders in long barrels so there is a lot less pressure to deal with than even .223. I didn't want to pay the extra $200 for the SBR stamp or want the rifle as long as a pool cue, so I built the suppressor so the blast chamber telescopes back over...

The 450 marlin is the same as a "hot" handloaded 45-70, 2100fps or so with a 300 grain bullet.

Re: supressed AR upper

I assume you know the recoil operated 9mm bolt carriers weigh a lot more than their gas operated counter parts but no, its a stock 9mm set up but all I shoot are my USPSA/IDPA "minor" loads. 3.1 grains of VV N310 (the fastest powder you can get) with a berrys 147 @ 1.160 is very quite. Dro...

Re: supressed AR upper

Nope, the way I built the one above, the end of the barrel is actually a few inches inside the can (to ensure alignment) and plug welded. I remember thinking how much of a pain in the ass it would be to fix it if I screwed up. Though it would be worth bringing up. http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/...

If I ever move to Texas, then I'll have to write up a trust in Klingon just to be a dick and make a point.
We already have too many dicks that have moved here and want to make their point. Be a waist of time.

Re: supressed AR upper

This is a 9mm upper that is 16" oal with the end cap removed, barrel around 7" long. Makes less noise than an MP5 SD by a good margin. Note that pistol caliber AR's are not gas operated, so you dont have to deal with the gas port/block or tube. Just make sure you put the barrel nut on befo...

My berrys 147 load of 3.1 of VVN310 or 3.2-3.3 of titegroup @ 1.160" makes "minor" for pistols in gun games and runs in every SMG i have tried it in except the ported barrel of the MP5 SD.

If the hole is round it will make it out of the can without crashing into anything, that is goal #1.

Keyhole is the term used for a bullet that is not stable and comes from the way a keyhole looks.

Re: Poor results with .223 subsonic!!!

Stop using trailboss. Back when I had time to waist playing with SS .223 VV N310 gave the best results. You also may try putting the bullets in the case backwards and see if it groups better. If that sounds goofy, that's what you get when you are trying to do something that the round wasn't designed...
