Re: 10/22 integrally suppressed barrel suitable for 60gr SSS?
My goodness, you make it sound as though I were a talented machinist. Hardly. Persistent though, so I manage to make things now and then and they usually work well enough, though a certain 'home made' quality tends to prevail. Ever since watching the film 'Day of the Jackal' as a young man I harbour...

Re: 10/22 integrally suppressed barrel suitable for 60gr SSS?
Since you've specified your preference for stability with Aguila 60gr SSS, a notoriously difficult round to stabilize which has a reputation for clipping baffles even with perfectly concentric installations, I would suggest an integral over a screwed-on suppressor. Specifically a reflex type integra...

Re: Rules of thumb for suppressor design
I have settled on a gap from crown to first baffle entry (a sharp-nosed simple hemi-toroidal blast baffle with 1/16" Dater hole) of 0.55". The K baffles in that pistol suppressor are likewise 0.55" long and there are 7 of them, so 4.4" + the 0.315" deep blast baffle, for a t...

Re: BEATING A DEAD HORSE BACK TO LIFE
I've been using this 7075 blast baffle (which is the same on the other side) for some hundreds of rounds, largely Remington Subsonic in .22lr, but also several flavours of subsonic CCI and a few dozen higher velocity cartridges. It is starting to show slight pitting near the entry point but seems li...

Re: Looking for ideas for Small pocket pistols with Suppressor
Those little fellows look so friendly, like something a child could comfortably shoot! Very nice. I'm fond of my little Unique, formerly a D4 but now more properly classed as a D2 since I shortened the barrel to 4". Without the suppressor it makes quite a pocketable pistol. With it... not quite...

Re: air gun (PCP pistol) baffle design idea (to 3D print)
While I can not find this on the Crosman USA website today, I did save this image from their site last year. The image displays their airgun monocore 'K' baffle suppressor, which seems to be intended as an after-market accessory, not bonded to an airgun barrel. http://i1319.photobucket.com/albums/t6...

Re: Scope question for a 'Jackal' type takedown .22lr rifle
Thank you, but no, I was thinking of something a bit better optically and mechanically than that. I had one of those actually, several years ago. It came with a Chinese spring-piston air rifle, the QB57 I believe. Incredibly light, but cloudy to look through when brand new and not very stable in its...

Scope question for a 'Jackal' type takedown .22lr rifle
Hello good people of the Rifle Discussion area. I do hope this is the best place for this question. I considered a more 'survival' oriented placement, or perhaps 'NFA,' but as my question is to do with a rifle scope this seems more appropriate. I have been tinkering with a project recently, a home-b...

Re: smooth bore pen gun - 25 acp
An interesting collection of examples Capt., thank you! I'm not able to discern the mechanism of the 'syringe' model, have you any thoughts on how it functions? And thank you for your generous offer. Fortunately, the barrel I acquired for my take down rifle project will provide material for the next...

Re: smooth bore pen gun - 25 acp
Not exactly free to do things at will. There are some rather complex regulations in place, especially around transport. As the laws are somewhat... circuitous, to say the least, I occasionally engage the assistance of an attorney to keep things sorted. For my semi-automatic pistol, for example, ther...

Re: smooth bore pen gun - 25 acp
Here I go again, shamelessly bumping an old thread in the name of... well, completeness I suppose, not vanity, as I've been working on an ultra-lightweight .22lr takedown rifle and have not taken the time yet to work on the next edition of the pen gun. This pictures simply illustrates the very last ...

what video? sounds from video may not be mean anything, depends on the recording gear. This video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?&v=Mi_9gPvsj28 Fireman1291 has gone to considerable expense to bring us some of the most authentically recorded firearm report audio available online, both unsuppress...

Re: New suppressor from Ruger....Ruger?
Something has been intriguing me about these baffles, quite apart from the obvious and slightly compelling 'anatomical' element. Ruger would have spent quite a lot of time developing the shaping of the baffle face, and a seemingly obvious component of an asymmetrical peaked form such as this would s...

Re: air gun (PCP pistol) baffle design idea (to 3D print)
My mistake, apologies for that silly interruption. I'd forgotten which thread this was on replying, thought for some reason it was to be used with .22lr. Of course there's no need to clean any airgun suppressor! In that case should it prove possible to draft it into the printing drawing, by all mean...

The small shelf inside Gunny's cone seems a good idea, but perhaps difficult to clean regularly. Perhaps a specially shaped brass brush?

In this photograph from your first post in the thread you've got all your ports lined up on the same side: http://i64.tinypic.com/2ldf1jp.jpg Perhaps a good thing would be to try flipping every second baffle such that the ports zig-zag down the core, before doing any further machining on the baffles...

Re: air gun (PCP pistol) baffle design idea (to 3D print)
Wasatch; sorry to have been less than clear regarding the scoop dimensions. You're on the right track with that last drawing. I meant 'deeper' in the sense of more deeply controlling the pressure stream, and your scoop going further out from the bore should do the trick. I also go somewhat deeper in...

Re: air gun (PCP pistol) baffle design idea (to 3D print)
While I hold Gunny's work and his sharing of information in high esteem, my experience so far contradicts what Gunny is suggesting regarding airgun pellet sensitivity to asymmetrical baffles. Each of my PCP airguns has been suppressed at least for a time, the Pardini being the only one I'm not conti...

Re: air gun (PCP pistol) baffle design idea (to 3D print)
On the right track, but perhaps leave an area nearest the bore twice that thick or even a bit thicker and make your scoop more prominent using that material. You don't have a lot of pressure to work with at such low FPE, so grabbing as much of that flowing air as you can from near the bore and direc...

Re: air gun (PCP pistol) baffle design idea (to 3D print)
Sorry, but I must concur. Sharp edges aren't necessary anyway, nor even desirable, as obfuscation of flow is the aim not carving it. Slight flats around the entry points to your baffles actually assist in the scrambling of air flow, while the bulk of it gets scooped away by the face profile of the K...

Re: air gun (PCP pistol) baffle design idea (to 3D print)
Indeed your design would likely help in suppression as regards energy absorption by redirection, but it lacks any sort of interference with the air stream at the bore. In my experience with various air rifles and pistols, incorporating cross-bore jetting does not interfere significantly with point o...

Re: air gun (PCP pistol) baffle design idea (to 3D print)
A couple of years back I made a 1" square aluminum tube suppressor for a Pardini K12, an air pistol with an un-shrouded barrel and a muzzle compensator and three ports in the top of the barrel just as your Steyr has. Placing a simpler mock-up suppressor around the compensator and in front of it...

Did you take the time to read what I posted? All of it? Was I not clear somehow? It seems to me I was fairly thorough in presenting the reason for lower frequencies seeming to be quieter than higher frequencies when sound pressure levels were equal. Perhaps you should go back up the page and read it...

Re: Water makes it louder?
No horse in this race, as I've not shot any suppressor whetted with water nor do I have any intentions in that direction - it just seems too obviously messy for my tastes so I'll stick with about a 1mm film of white lithium grease on the first couple of baffles. Not for noise reduction. Strictly to ...

Re: Q. Ryder 22a Vs. Warlock 2? For Light weight & Easy to Clean. 22lr Only
Some white lithium grease wiped around the first couple of baffles and the blast chamber help a lot, making it very easy to clean. Only if you clean often however. Put 100+ rounds through and the grease won't be much use.
