Re: Gun Industry experts stumped on record gun sales
I sometimes hear the counter-argument that gun- ownership is down. Meaning that while new gun sales soar, it's simply due to a small contingent of the population buying more guns... as though each gun-owner has 20+ firearms. That viewpoint does have some merit, as it seems that many gun-owners do ow...

Even in light of folks who might question the set-up, the numbers are still useful for comparison of the cans to one another.

Re: 2017 Defense Budget mandates an A-10 versus F-35 flyoff
Why? because Senator John McCain inserted it in the Bill (chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee). He is convinced that the Pentagon is selling him(Congress) a deficient ground support program. Proof that it's possible to do the wrong thing for the right reasons. Assuming that this is only...

Re: Price of suppressors IF Hearing Protection Act is passed
I am very, very excited to see a fringe-benefit of the HPA (assuming it is passed)... and that is the number of home-brew 'grenades' that people will mill from Aluminum to hang off the end of their 270. I just hope that there are a lot of Youtube videos for us to peruse.

Re: 2017 Defense Budget mandates an A-10 versus F-35 flyoff
How about a flyoff between a Sopwith Camel and an AH-64? Makes as much sense. ^ This ^ Since the parameters of the 'test' can be tailored to either aircraft's strengths, the real 'winner' is the one that the brass wants to win. And the hell of it is that I believe the A-10 is past its prime and is ...

Re: Excellent chance of 2 pro-gun Bills to pass in 2017
These days, a sense of pessimism regarding future gun-rights is appropriate. But in this case, the numbers are already on the side of it passing.cdrissel wrote:Personally, I doubt either one will pass.
I wouldn't say that one should be hopeful.... but this has a very real chance of going all the way.

Re: Price of suppressors IF Hearing Protection Act is passed
I personally don't care for retro-active bills like that. However, that's a different topic. Why do you think economies of scale would come into play on this? As I understand it, the higher-end suppressors have their dominant costs in materials, machine time, and expert man-hours. Of those, only ra...

Re: Price of suppressors IF Hearing Protection Act is passed
We will get our $200 in tax stamp(s) back . What will happen to prices of suppressors? Stay the same? Go way up? The part in red... it's a statement and not a question? Why do you say this? Do you have an article or source that you're willing to share? As for the other portions, I don't see why pri...

Re: Feds convict 2 Kansas gunmakers for making NFA items under KS law
Any attempt to use a rational explanation of 'interstate commerce' is futile in the face of Wickard v Filburn, one of the worst decisions the Supreme Court has ever made. If they can twist the actual meaning of the term into applying to a man growing wheat on his own land, and using it on his own l...

Re: Feds convict 2 Kansas gunmakers for making NFA items under KS law
is it legal for a state to make a law exempting state citizens from federal laws? i didnt think thats how our constitution worked. No, it isn't legal for a state to do that. However, the federal government's claim to authority on the matter is the 'interstate clause'. KS tells its own citizens that...

I'm not gonna jump into the piss, but will say this. The same amount of people who voted for Kerry and Romney, voted for Trump. He did not get overwhelming support. Hillary lost because 10 million less people voted for her than Obama. Best candidate? No Better than Hillary? You need to be struck wi...

Re: Canada doesn't want Libs, threatens to build a wall
Easy to throw such lazy insults Trooper. But the fact is that most Trump voters chose to mark that ballot out of mental laziness. They've given up on intelligence, work, common sense, and have opted for a joke candidate who promises miracles through irrational actions. People claiming that 'he's a ...

Just this one Canadian's opinion... but frankly I don't give much of a damn either way. If I have any preference it might favour unhappy Republicans moving North. You know, the sort who never wanted this idiot Trump as their representative and certainly don't want him now that he's somehow snaked h...

Without trying to insult you, Zombie1969, if you haven't heard of anyone expressing their desire to ban all guns, then frankly you just haven't been listening. Without commenting on whether or not this lawsuit is ethical or moral, why do you think it will succeed? Given the totality of parts used, as well as the fact that it was you yourself who attached it, what kind of liability does the manufacturer have? Let me be clear: I'm not blaming or insulting yo...

Totally agree with your point. If a person is interested in minimizing their odds of premature external death (not a disease or organ failure), then it would only make sense to focus their attention on higher risk scenarios. Total agreement. We had to do a number of linear regressions for a statisti...

I got into the spirit of arguing over in the Yahoo comments sections prior to their basic format being changed. We've all seen the big pie-chart of how people die, and guns are teeny-tiny slice of that... but I wanted a different thing: # rounds which kill a person in the US / # of rounds fired. In ...

XCRs have a curious reputation on the internet: a small group of people have a cult-like appreciation for the platform. A small group of people seem to have nothing positive to say about it. And the remainder, the largest group, don't know what the hell an XCR is. I mostly belong in the third and la...

The ATF has been -- possibly literally -- covered in an avalanche of Form 4s. I think there was one class III dealer in Texas, for example, that had a ton delivered at the beginning of the summer in an attempt to beat some deadline. And by "a ton", I mean 2,000 pounds of form 4s. Now I rea...

I waited a year (almost to the day) for my first suppressor. That said, your situation is a little bit different, because you technically haven't started waiting yet. Are you concerned that your Class III is screwing up? Or are you concerned that it's the manufacturer? Assuming I haven't misundersto...

Re: Bass Pro buying Cabelas
In my experience, Cabela's has much more favorable prices on ammunition.
I don't see why this practice would continue since it wouldn't make sense to cannibalize sales from one division to boost another. Perhaps overall prices will come down? Or perhaps all prices will rise to Bass Pro.
