Re: Finally got my stamp, need some help.

K baffles and chop barrel/permanently affix the tube would be how I go about it.

Sad.
Yeah, he was certainly new to the "sport" but he did good work. I wish I could have seen what he had come up with.

I really feel for you guys with all those lousy laws, and that being said, I completely understand paying $200 more for no compromise. But take a second to consider what you're actually getting... I made this can a decade ago being 12 years of age, after asking a friend's father for an hour on his ...

Re: Anyone still have a working washer+spacer can?

What kind of volume are we talking? A large volume in a suppressor can, to an extent, make up for a less than ideal baffle "design". I would put a decent .22 K-baffled (6x1 inch) suppressor against anything like what you are talking. You'd likely have to run approx. double the internal vol...

Re: Form 1 weights?

@ Bendersquint, Wow!, 18 oz!? Makes me feel better. My .22 can came in at 7 oz. But my .45 can came in at 14 oz. I am looking for ways to put her on a diet. I'll get ahold of a better scale and weigh seperate components. I'm nervous about thinning out parts since its a one shot deal on form 1's. I'...

Take more material off the face like this (step 9 picture):

viewtopic.php?f=10&t=69654

and you should have used a ball mill to "drill" down into the cone (skirt) vertically not from the side.

Re: How flexible can you be on can length form 1 submission?

I've just got the bug to make a suppressor and figured I'd get the paperwork started since it'll take awhile. I've read that it's OK to make a can shorter than what you put on your form 1 but not longer, but how much shorter is reasonable? Let's say I want to make one for a .22LR but I haven't comp...

The ATF will, in my opinion, go with the idea that it's a baffle as soon as you intend it to use it to try and suppress a firearm.

They are going to murder that man. He'll never see the inside of a courtroom even if he does surrender. The LAPD's shooting of innocent people has proven that.

Re: lathes for building

I have a 9x20 lathe (my first) and I quickly wished I had a bigger lathe. Those little lathes wont thread tubes, most barrels, or do well at all with steel or stainless. They are a fun toy to learn on but nothing more IMHO.

Re: Nedd help on a few things for my 300 BLK project

If you dont already have or have ready acces to at least a lathe, I'd just buy one. Freeze plugs are OK, but by comparison are heavier and less efficient than commercial suppressors. The fact that you specifically mention that design leads me to believe that you dont have a lot of the necessary tool...

Barrel threading question

I have the sudden urge to thread the barrel on my Bernardelli in .22 long as it's a fixed barrel design and would be a small (and hopefully fun) host. I only paid $150 for the gun and would like to thread the barrel myself. I wanted to bounce an idea off of everyone to see if you think it will work....

Re: do a silencer with a maglit

IF it were me I would make a new end cap instead if using the back end of the maglight. Turn the inner and out threads in one operation. I would also make it out of stainless, as the maglite tube is going to put some strain on the barrel threads. In the end it's a tube like any other, I don't think ...

Re: Integrally Suppressed 45acp Bolt Action

lets say you have a 1" X 6" can where, at ignition, the blast pressure is 5,000 psi. If you switch to a tube that is 2 " X 6", and given the same proportionate baffle volume/displacement, your internal blast pressure is automatically reduced to 2,500 psi. Twice the volume halves...
