I have fired more than a quarter million rounds using berrys plated 147's with 3.1 of n310 @ 1.160.
It is the softest feeling load I have found that makes "minor" but is is high pressure.

Re: sub-sonic rounds using Trail Boss
All you need to do is shoot some rounds to make sure the bullet makes round holes. If the bullet keyholes at the target you would risk a baffle strike that could damage the can. This problem exists with slow heavy bullets in barrels that do not have the correct twist rate to make the bullet stable. ...

Re: sub-sonic rounds using Trail Boss
I run 10g of trailboss behind cast and coated 170g bullets, the run just a tad over 1100fps.
One thing I would suggest would be to go try ALL of the "new" loads out BEFORE you try them with your new cans. To trash them before you can even posess them would suck.

Re: My subsonic .223 recipe
Do you have a can that you can take apart? How much of your cotton ball is caught in it?
I haven't had any issues using 10 grains of TB in 308 with a 170 and adding nothing. Folks use it because it is bulky.
You do know that a .22lr puts out the same ft/lbs, right?

Auto bullet sizer
I had recycled some parts off of my auto bullet sizer but put it back together today and shot a short video of how it works. It uses the same gear motors as the bullet caster and auto reset rifle targets, so it is pretty slow but they were free and it runs by itself. Click photo to play video. http:...

You can also weld Inconel if you don't want to machine the entire part from it.
This little 30 million BTU hydrogen/NG burner has Inconel tips welded to stainless steel.

Re: Any legal way to use a stamp for a larger caliber?
It's probably more accurate to say the ATF would base it on an arbitrary industry average and they will decide what is or is not included in the average for whatever suits their purpose. An "average" would never work. Everyone that machined one larger than average would be breaking the la...

Is it safe to say that no " industry standard" exists at this point?

Re: Any legal way to use a stamp for a larger caliber?
The ATF bases that on industry standard. You can always shoot a smaller bullet than what is registered, its larger that the ATF considers it an increase in capability. Ok, what is the "industry standard" ID of a .223 suppressor? Can you provide a link to this "increased capability&qu...

Re: Any legal way to use a stamp for a larger caliber?
If you register it as a 22 caliber then an appropriately sized 22 caliber hole is what you put in it. And what size would that be? If I ever built one that I wanted to use on a larger caliber and didn't fill out the form 1 for the largest, I would simply say that I made it .xxx" diameter so an...

Re: "Colored" flashes fireworks question
You could empty the contents of whatever firework you like the color of into a primed case and then place a cardboard wad on top.
Be more work than just lighting the firework and likely not as cool.

Re: Any legal way to use a stamp for a larger caliber?
There is no rule as to what size hole you have to put in a can. There are many people that use 308 cans on 223's. Yours will just say .223 and have a hole large enough for either.

This is what they are talking about, hard to get the same results with a mig on small thin stuff. http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o213/jmorrismetal/can/458socom/weld.jpg http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o213/jmorrismetal/can/458socom/excham.jpg http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o213/jmorrismet...

Just over 1000th build up. Donnie said to size them after coating but I already had them all sized. They work fine though.
I never did get an MSDS on the mix.
[email protected] is the company that makes it. Have them send you the MSDS and it will tell you what is in it.

Bullet coating part II
After going through the powder coating process and giving copper plating a try, after USPS lost the first shipment, I finally received a new batch of the Bayou bullet coating from Donnie, that he FedExed to me. What you get is a two part mix and you add acetone, tumble and bake. I just ran a small b...

Don't Know to make of the gas volume comment. The guns are not gas operated to begin with and if they will go 5" and cycle a pistol action, they will make it out the end of a 16" barrel. My favorite 9mm load is 3.1 of VVN310 (the fastest powder you can get these days) with a Berry's 147@ 1...

I really don't even remember why or what I was doing it but I had my portable TIG welding at the kitched table, not splatter or anything like that but it only happened once.My swivel chair broke one of the supports so I got the small mig and brought in in the house to fix it.
