Re: Stainless 22 lr Micro suppressor
I haven't had a chance to try it with the wipe yet, I just got the material in. Without the wipe it still works surprisingly well with a little lithium grease in the blast chamber. I figured with the grease I could keep it charged and ready to go verses just water. I might clip one cone and see how...

Re: Please Critique the Rimfire Can I'm Building
You need to add porting to "work" the gas versus just slowing the gas and allowing a space for it to expand (several times).

Re: My Freeze plug baffle forming
The torx bits are honestly a very creative way to do it, and seems like it would work much better than the simple ball bearing technique. Bravo.

Re: First time suppressor design
For starters I already have a growing NFA collection so I have the basics down already on the laws, though I'm always willing to learn if it keeps me on the legal side. I've been into suppressors for only short time due to them only more recently becoming legal here. I have few already and few more...

Re: 50 BMG form 1 finally arrived. Making progress.
I've been waffling more than Kerry the last few days trying to decide on a baffle configuration prior to cutting any more parts. More 60 degree cones means more weight so I though I might increase the length of the blast chamber and make some of the baffles 90 degrees. http://i171.photobucket.com/a...

Re: Correct Suppressor Clearance
I am new to suppressors and this forum, so I would imagine this question has come up before. I submitted my tax stamp app in April and hopefully will get it soon. My first build will be fairly basic for .243 Win, using 34.3 mm freeze plugs as baffles. QUESTION: Is there a standard or optimum over-d...

Re: Anybody done a form 1 using the new online eforms servic
A new email from ATF just arrived a few minutes ago which indicates they have made some performance improvements to eForms and have added form 1 back to the system. Much less "buggy" and faster than before, but my Submitted/In process forms that I submitted yesterday have disappeared from...

So threading a longer barrel onto a gun is a silencer?Bendersquint wrote:Gunny, If it reduces the sound signature at all then its a silencer.
say going from 16" to 20" on a .22.

The vast majority will be from the expanding gasses exiting the suppressor and I'm not sure how you would test the suppressor without that noise factor.

Well going through the packet and paper work the ATF sent me I only recieved 2 fingerprint cards which is about 4 short if my math is right. Made another request today for them. Have you considered the trust route? I'm glad I've gone that way. Yes, last June I decided to take the dive ...

Maglite rechargeable D-Cell. Already threaded on both ends. You seem a little on the "frugal" side to have spent $200 on a tax stamp. But here you go, took all of 5 minutes max. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Maglite-D-Cell-Solvent-Trap-1-2-28-ID-Threads-223-5-56-Made-in-the-USA-Black-/151288471...

Re: K Baffle questions
Very cool concept but have veered somewhat of the topic of baffle wall thickness....any suggestions? Shift, I would not hesitate to do a 7075 K baffle in .22LR .060" thickness. With that said, if it were me, I would consider a stainless blast baffle .050" thick, with the rest Aluminum. It...

Most people use 1/4" ball mill for .22, I would think to maybe go 1/2" ball mill.

Re: Any pointers for using Eform for Form 1
The farthest I got was to get to entering the manufacturer info for a home made suppressor. Enter "Form 1 registration" for the manufacturer. I've spent ten hours off and on trying to fill out the form, but haven't made it past the third step. I have been using Mozilla Firefox, because IE ...
