Without knowing your budget and what you're going to be doing with the rifle, its hard to make a call. Vortex has a decent reputation for quality and an EXCELLENT reputation for customer service, should you have any issues with your glass. If you want to get a solid mount without having to sell your...

Decouplers/LID/Nielsen/Piston question...
While still waiting on my .22LR and .30 cal stamps, I'm toying with the idea of another stamp for a pistol can. Looking over the various pictures/drawings/diagrams I can find, I see that most all of the Nielsen-type devices are between 2 and 2-3/4-ish inches long, overall. Why? Is there that much ro...

Waaaaaay overkill for a rimfire can, but should be OK for centerfire. Gonna be heavy, and the threading will be a weakness in the design, but you should be able to compensate for that with a little thicker tube.

Re: Interesting Saker cal and cap test.
I doubt that will work, as the end cap on the TiRant holds the baffles in, therefore it is a required silencer part.
IIRC, the Saker's baffles don't rely on the end cap for retention, so the cap is an accessory.
Pretty good idea, I must say...

Different criteria for different platforms; what I want in a rimfire pistol can is different than what would be important in a centerfire can that I'm going to use in a carbine class. Rimfire: Rifle: 1: Suppression 2: Weight 3: Ease of cleaning 4: Durability Pistol: 1: Weight 2: Length (I don't want...

'Significantly'? Compared to what, an Octane? No, I think the commercial can will win over a bbbb...(baseball bat based build  ahem... :? ). Interesting concept, as you are getting more volume radially, but I'd guess that volume is on the wrong end. I would think that MORE volume at the barrel ...

Re: Specwar 762 question
Copper washed/plated don't really help much, except marketing a prettier bullet. Still have lots of unburnt powder and molten lead spewing into the can, thus the recommendation to avoid Rimfire ammo in a centerfire suppressor that can't come apart for cleaning. I doubt 20 or 30rds of .22LR would mak...

Ewww...well, then...I'd wait for someone else to chime in. Not a lot of cans in that range to reference off of (that I know of, anyway). Might want to look at other clipped cone designs and see what the ratio is between the bore and vent. Diameter of the bore vs. width of vent first, then some...

Re: Does anyone have ideas for radical designs?
The biggest issue with a Nielsen-activated valve is timing. By the time that the piston moves and starts compressing the spring (the linear motion required to activate the valve, I assume), the bullet is out of the can, and hope of increasing pressure dwell time goes along with it. Milliseconds late...

Re: Clipping cones on 500 whisper can. What size end mill???
Since you can take material off, but not put it back, I'd recommend doing some 'sperimentin... I think 1/8" is probably too small to make a huge difference, but you never know. I'm assuming that your can will be threaded so you can disassemble it to clean; if that is the case, then stack up the...

Bender, do YOU have any novel ideas for us to play with? Anything that you've seen or thought of that may increase performance? He probably does, but seeing as how he is an 07/02 and is coming to market with his own designs, I doubt he wants to give away his secrets... Just a guess, though. Byrdman

Specwar, Saker, & 762-SDN-6 seem to be the front runners right now. AAC has the SR7 coming out shortly with the 90T mount. There are many Ti models out and about, too.

I'd be willing to bet that if you had the specs, you could find your replacement in the McMaster-Carr catalog. http://i292.photobucket.com/albums/mm7/halfsquelch/MkIIIKnowipe_zps558ecce7.jpg What I would do is take the last K baffle and reduce the OD of the skirt to let it sit inside your end cap. You're still keeping it quiet and all the baffles intact, but you're killing wasted space and length. JMHO, of ...

Re: New to suppressors, would like some help
Just a heads-up: 10.5" (or shorter) on an AR is hell on a suppressor...the blast baffle gets hammered, pressure is 50% higher than at 14.5", and you're barely at the 2500fps 'threshold' for a .22cal bullet to tumble and fragment. Also, if you 'shroud' the barrel, especially on an SBR, you'...
