Re: Question on legal limits of bore clearance?
As long as the caliber listed will fit through the hole then its good. What if I can shoot 45's through my can marked 22 caliber? It still won't help you keep your anal virginity. That's my instinctive thought as well, but is there actually something in statute or published guidance to back that op...

Question on legal limits of bore clearance?
I('m involved on the fringes of a discussion on another forum regarding bore clearances for Form 1 silencers. In this particular thread the OP inquired about being able to change the caliber of a silencer once the stamp had been issued. While most were quick to point out that ATF very specifically d...

Re: Review: Silencerco Hybrid
I shoot cast lead in my 308 and 300 blackout. I can make 100 bullets for less than 1/4 the cost of factory jacketed. Shooting 150-200 rounds a session it doesn't take long for the savings to really add up--plus I enjoy the challenge of trying to get jacketed performance with cheap bullets. I will ha...

I got one back last week that was submitted November 17. I filed one the day 41F dropped...I'm betting it will take somewhat longer.

Re: Quick SBR engraving question
Can't do the slide, you can do the exposed portion of the barrel though. Can do the slide per ATF Ruling 2013-3 https://www.atf.gov/file/4881/download "The manufacturer, importer, or maker must legibly and conspicuously place on the frame, receiver, barrel, or pistol slide (if applicable) his/...

No service, no sale. A true "hybrid" can be used on anything, and that includes handguns with cast lead bullets. A sealed can would fill up pretty fast.
Too bad.

Re: Quieter 300 Blackout
#9 is my preferred powder for heavy bullets in the 10mm so I try not to run low. It is becoming one of my favorite powders.
I'm going to try Power Pistol and Longshot in some heavy 300 blackout subsonic loads as well to see if there is a noticeable difference.

Re: Quieter 300 Blackout
I have found AA#9 to be noticeably quieter than any of the other magnum pistol powders I have tried, and I also catch a lot less blowback in my face. As a lefty this really matters to me, since I'm staring right into the ejection port with half my face every time I pull the trigger.

9mm PCC selection
This is somewhat an NFA question, although my immediate plan isn't to SBR the gun. It's more an NFA related question because I own a silencer now and my only PCC is a Marlin Camp Carbine without a threaded barrel. I like the Marlin OK and really like the Williams peep sight I have mounted on it, but...

Adventures in home engraving
Since the regs say the only thing that MUST be on the receiver is the serial number, and since my registered SBR lower is a very nice Colt, I have engraved all of my info on my barrels. I did it by printing all of the required info on a Brother P-touch label maker and attaching the label to the expo...

Re: Quick SBR engraving question
Can you get what you need to fit on the exposed 1" of barrel? Engraving on the barrel of a SBR is legal. At 1/16" minimum height you should get quite a few words around the circumference of the barrel.

That's what I would do. I would much rather deal with lead chloride than lead acetate.eastern_hunter wrote:Precipitate the lead out as lead chloride by adding a solution of table salt. Filter the precipitate out of the liquid.

BTW SilencerShop, if you're truly done with SilencerCo then you should remove the out of stock ones from your site.

Re: Does your NFA Trust have a Schedule A?
Yes, because that's how my lawyer set it up and I am glad. Have the Schedule A referred to by reference in the trust document means you can document the items the trust owns without having to mess with the actual trust documents themselves. Every time I submit a new form the current version of Sched...

That kind of inaccuracy sounds like baffle strikes. Take a look at your bore holes and see if you can see lead ruboff.

Re: Switch barrel bolt gun SBR
The ability to switch barrels/calibers at will is the reason I SBR'd a TC contender. This. Awesome platform! O2 Yeah, I thought about that but I already have the Savage. My gun is a 308 but I can see myself putting a 358 Win barrel on it so I could shoot heavier subsonics. But that means I need a 9...

Switch barrel bolt gun SBR
I have read from multiple reliable sources that once you get your stamp on an AR lower that you can swap on any length and caliber upper you want, and can even go between a 16"+ barrel and back to <16" as you wish. Is there any reason why the same wouldnt be true of a bolt gun? If I SBR a ...

Ver clever using a predrilled barrel as your blank. I wondered how you managed to drill a straight hole that long until I read your post again. I wish you luck on your soldering.

Re: Has anyone created their own 16"+ barrel from a short barrel + pinned/welded silencer?
By the letter of the interpretation of the law it would be best to have an 07/02 do the work for you since, technically, as soon as the barrel is cut short and before the permanent attachment is in place it is an SBR. I had something similar made by an 07/02 a long time ago. Not if you have a pisto...

Re: No tax stamp if its welded on?
I like the idea of having a permanently attached shroud slightly larger in diameter than the biggest can you plan to own that brings the total length to 16". That preserves your ability to use the can on other guns, remove for maintenance, etc.

Re: Thompson Machine THIRTY
I have one, although the core on mine looks different. I bought it specifically because it can be taken apart, because almost every one of the 2000+ rounds I have put through mine have been cast. I also use anti-seize compound when I put mine back together, but after shooting 200 or so rounds I give...
