Re: Good lathe?
Basically I want to be able to do basic turning / threading / boring. TBH, I probably won't use it all that much - I just want to be able to make a silencer every now and then. you'll be disappointed. spindle bore is only .78", too narrow to accomodate many barrel so threading will not really ...

Re: 22lr barrel buying
Yes the stainless is the BEST. agree. i had several of the older phosphate finish, they were not as reliable (i.e. more prone to malfunction) and not nearly as easy to clean. believe the reason they malfunctioned more often was simply because they got dirty more quickly than the stainless model - t...

Re: Rock Island 22TCM rifle COULD be cool (if it was in 9mm)
no real interest in a bolt gun firing a necked-down 9mm cartridge loaded with a .224 projectile - can just get a .224 bolt gun and load up whatever i need. if the objective is to develop a new smithing project, then no problem, but i've already got a shedload of those (and more of them than time ava...

Re: Rock Island 22TCM rifle COULD be cool (if it was in 9mm)
cartridge reminds me of the .224 BOZ from maybe 10 years ago. can't see myself spending the time setting up to load for it (and wouldn't want to pay for new ammo at what will probably be $.50 - $.75 per round) but nice to see them come out with something interesting.

Re: POI Shift 700 AAC SD
my savage 110 shoots 2" low at 100 yards with 762-SD attached vs. unsuppressed (20" barrel). this is more or less what I've heard from other folks with similar setups. 2 FEET high with the suppressor attached seems odd to me.

Re: Dillon 1050 for 300 BLK
are you planning on forming your own 300BLK brass from 5.56 using the dillon RT1200 trimmer? If so, be aware that the standard dillon 1050 toolhead is too thick to accommodate the C4HD sizing/trim die. To use the trim die, you'll have to machine away some of the toolhead to allow clearance for chip ...

With the USPS, they will NOT take into consideration this freak out for value that these toys have. They will look at what the NORMAL price is not the "gouging oh my god I need an AR15 before they are banned price". They will look into a catalog and see what is comparable that is modern p...

Re: Ar lower
As we talked about the gun he asked if it had the shelf in the lower to prevent using a DIAS. It doesn't - so he told me I need to hang on to it because those are getting harder to find & someone with a sear would want it. fwiw, all new aero precision lowers are low-shelf and for the other bran...

Re: Charger barrel help
Beretta model 21's have a 2.5" barrel - they may not be tack drivers but they're not keyholing rounds so I would guess at least that short (with some ammunition). Also - pic below shows the internals of my thompson operative S, looks like the actual barrel there is about 4+ inches. that's not s...

Here you go. One between the rear take down pin holes. One where what looks to be a block to prevent a auto sear and one in the trigger area one showing length. thanks very much - interior looks very nice. Re: Ok 4473 stripped new ar15 lower question for the experts
Remember if you are the FFL and you take a stripped receiver and build it into a pistol then you are liable for FAET and must be a manufacturer. Absolutely. Don't expect I'll be even close but keeping track of my numbers. http://www.ttb.gov/firearms/faet-faqs.shtml Small Manufacturers Exemptions Q....

Re: Transfer from closed corp to trust tax free?
Could you transfer the corporation to another state that doesn't require minimum taxes? this is your only option (that I know of) to retain ownership without a transfer and avoid your current state corporate taxes, but the time and effort required will vary depending upon: 1) the state in which you...

fwiw, i've been using an ebay vendor called exact metals (http://stores.ebay.com/Exact-Metals) for round stock and they're a bit cheaper than online metals for common items. they have a significantly smaller selection than online metals, but if you're buying a common item then they may be worth a lo...
