Not that we are not advising you to make one yourself, but we just want you to make your first NFA experience a happy one and safe.

Re: Besides freeze plugs are there any other ready made baff

I ask because there are many types that can be built. I do have the required paperwork so I have the ability to experiment as many others do. I found that a steel tube from a conveyer in the 1.25" size can easily be outfitted with race bearings- the kind used in skateboards. Half of the bearin...

Re: should i thread a suppressor or weld it to the barrel?

For .22 , I would rather press-fit/silver solder a can onto a barrel before ever welding it.

For anything with higher pressures I would just abandon the project before welding it to the barrel.

You will be happy in the end with what they have arranged for you. I would certainly appreciate their cooperation but I do understand being without a can blows mightily.

Re: Cutting threads

I *assume* I have an imperial lead screw because the data plates for threading gear changes are only in TPI - it would list metric sizes if that's what it was made to cut. But assumption is the mother of all f---ups, so that very well could be the case. Once I get the new toolpost on I'll work on i...

Seriously a dust cover mounted scope? Those shitty irons will be way better than a scope mounted that way. At least put a beryl mount on it you want to use a scope.

Re: Cutting threads

Usually for me the best gauge is to put layout dye on the part and cut until all of the dye is gone. Then start fine tuning fitment.

Re: three lug mount

I really hate how the law makes it so that if you didn't turn it out of solid round you are committing a mortal sin. Thats the problem when an individual wants to MAKE something, you apply to have to MAKE something, not purchase an already made component. Freeze plugs????? Not a silencer component ...

If you are going to resist shooting .22lr out of it cleaning it with the dip mixture is all you need to do. I would weld it closed.

Re: MonoCores & MiniLathes Tutorial: Chapter 3 (I)

I think the sad part is nobody is going to realistically make a suppressor this way. If you want to make a monocore you need to use a rigid jig to hold your work piece as it starts to lose its strength and cut it in a mill. Keep using those center drills too.

Re: New (to me) lathe & mill

Do yourself a favor and get a 1/2" keyless drill chuck, best $50 you can spend. Great deal and you should be able to turn out some great projects with those machines.

Those titanium drill bits from harbor freight aren't half bad.
