I happened to have the news on in my office so I caught the speech live.
I was saying this about him (for the same reasons) before he even finished speaking.

Re: New York newspaper publishes map of gun permit holders
Somebody posted that at a local site earlier today. The original article (second link) is worth reading if only because the article begins with a scary story about a cold blooded murder -- committed with an illegally-owned gun in a state that requires registration. How's that "safety decreed by...

Re: Great. Shooting firemen.
I happen to admire firemen, EMS, and the Coast Guard. Why the hell would anybody shoot at someone who intends only good and brings no harm? And this is about the third time it has happened in the past couple of years. About 20 years ago I had a friend who was EMS, and he said they get attacked all ...

Automatic weapons, nukes, jets... for anyone who believes the old saw that the Founding Fathers couldn't possibly imagine or predict unusually powerful weapons which only states could afford to own and operate, I give you this painting from the Naval Museum in Norfolk: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wi...

Might as well add this link to the thread:
http://firearmsfreedomact.com/
It doesn't seem to be well-maintained, though. Florida, for example, is shown in the "introduced" category but that was 2010 and the bill was allowed to die before getting anywhere near any sort of voting.

Yeah KelTec's .380 is virtually identical to the LCP. If you really want a 9mm, you can always go with a KelTec P11, I think that's about as small as it gets. I've owned three, they all sucked, but they were my carry guns on and off most of my life.

Re: The ban list is out
What? So if like a CTR stock is in itself banned? This is just not going to pass - it is too ridiculous. I mean I know ridiculousness is not the standard, but it can't pass without Republicans going along with it - and I don't see that happening. And it did not pass. That's why I keep pointing out ...

Re: How do you carry?
I live in FL and I've often carried various smaller, flatter 9mm (like a Khar) IWB at about the 5 o'clock position (right rear kidney). Very comfortable. I prefer a Mr. Softy High-Noon holster for IWB. You'd be surprised what people won't notice. On the other hand, my full-time always-on-me carry is...

Re: 2A, has this argument been used?
Judge Scalia addressed both parts in great detail (and along lines similar to what you're saying) in the Supreme Court's ruling in DC vs Heller, and also how "the right of the people" contrasts with "the State" as a separate entity. It's a long and often technical piece of writin...

Re: NRA press conference
I went to a HS that had ~1300 kids in my class and another ~1300 in the 11th grade. The campus was huge and the 9th and 10th grade campus was a few hundred yards across the field with another 2,000 plus kids. Ok how many armed guards do you need to protect a place with that many kids on such a larg...

Re: NRA press conference
But really - this plan does not make sense at face value because schools are not at significant risk for mass shootings - so it is a poor way to spend dollars. I certainly agree with that. I pointed out the other day that more than 50 million school children go to school and come home every day, co...

Re: What's in your Kegerator (homebrew)?
I always have three on draft: one keg of Sam Adams Boston Lager, my business partner usually keeps a keg of Longbow cider at my house (too sickly-sweet for me), and right now the five gallon homebrew keg is filled with a very dark lager with nutmeg and cinnamon, which is something I brew from time t...

Re: NRA press conference
We have a whole division of the police department that only works the schools. Schools have at least one full-time officer (often a live-in), and many have two or three assigned there, with additional officers who travel around doing who-knows-what. As chrismartin said, there is plenty of crime in s...

This is the exact same procedure that the DOT does to a dealership when someone is killed by a car. Not. If some nutcase stole a bunch of cars from a dealership, you wouldn't be real surprised to find that the place crawling with LEOs -- regardless of whether a car bought there was also used in a h...

Re: cheaper then dirt stops all online gun sales
Everybody is price-gouging on ammo right now. An FFL friend stopped by my office today to talk about some items I had ordered, and he brought it up. One of his customers just told him he paid more than $40 for a box of 200 rounds of .22LR.
