Re: 300 BLK design
heres the most updated design based on all your advice im going to clip and port the cones, i just didnt show it in the drawing. i went with spacer diameter as large as possible because i think that design would work best on my .270 as well as working very well on 300 blackout http://i1175.photobuc...

Re: 300 BLK design
It's all relative. You space the first few baffles well enough that the gases can expand in them properly, and then you gradually increase that spacing even more have you tested this? i understand your theory behind it but im not 100% sold that increasing spacing would be better than decreasing or ...

Re: 300 BLK design
But, one must consider that gas jets traveling supersonic unpon leaving the barrel will enter Choked Flow conditions and must drop velocity b/f they can spread to fill the OD properly. So, if not enough linear distance b/t baffles, the core of jet will pass through into the next chamber w/o properl...

Re: 300 BLK design
Ported spacers that are smaller than the suppressor ID offer improved gas delay while also optimizing volume and reducing weight. Spacing is also critical. Note that the gases lose pressure in every subsequent chamber, so that for a given longitudinal distance, a gas particle will travel a lesser d...

Re: 300 BLK design
Many different variables influence cone angle. Caliber, projectile velocity, pressure, etc. While I can't tell you exactly what's optimal, cones within this interval of angles have given me, and others, good results. Also, don't forget variable- angle cones, also known as swept cones. You'll notice ...

Re: 300 BLK design
What Bender said. Mixed baffles don't offer much benefit, and they complicate manufacture. Between 45deg. and 60deg. clipped cones should get you in the sweet spot. Ported spacers that are smaller than the suppressor ID offer improved gas delay while also optimizing volume and reducing weight. Spaci...

So given the local situation there were other toys I needed to test and make ready just in case. Re: reason for commercial cans to be same outside diameter?
It is best to design for manufacturability and use materials that are stocked by suppliers. I wish the US would go metric. Burma, Liberia, and the US are the only countries not using it. Too many people who say "My car gets 40 rods to the hogshead and that's the way I likes it!" Guatemala...

Benjamin Sheridan Air rifle pumped up to the max. No pellet, barrel in the water. The concussive wave brings up quite a few fish. Works best if you stick some bait around the muzzle to lure them closer.

Re: Titanium 22LR K-Baffle Build
After shortening it to 1/4" total length, don't make it hollow. Make it solid, then cut a scoop all around. Instant half baffle.trevor1058 wrote:I have been thinking about shortening the end caps, still need to make tube. What do you mean about modifying the front end cap?

Re: Titanium 22LR K-Baffle Build
Those endcaps are way too long. At most, 3/16 of threaded engagement surface suffices. That's almost a whole inch you can lose from the can, or increase your baffle count. Also, I would suggest modifying the front endcap to have a cone shape or at least a scoop. It will dramatically boost performance.

Re: Undocumented or Illegal?
As a Guatemalan, I assume most would expect me to speak out in favor of the illegal immigrants. This problem would need to be approached as an initial-condition problem, with differential equations, where P could be found for a specific tn moment after t0.

Re: The Hush Hole?
Thank you very much for the response, that is helpful. It seems that from your experience with your very flexibly designed rimfire suppressor that while certainly an interesting phenomenon, the Hush hole in the middle of the baffle stack is not a definitive, or 'must have' solution. Even if it is b...

Re: Squeaky, high-pitched-sounding silencers
I've managed to get a somewhat Hollywood-esque high pitched sound on exactly one suppressor only, and that was a mini-can that I built for a Beretta 21A. 4" long by 7/8" OD, with 3 parabolic baffles, all welded into a monocore, CF tube.

Re: Rimfire internals - Design exposition
I didn't spot this while following the thread but perhaps missed it, so my apologies if that's the case. My thought is that you ought to take advantage of the external tube's volume in such a way that FRP becomes irrelevant, by cutting a path for expansion into the last stage of the K baffle stack....

Re: 300 blk reflex style suppressor form 1
All inconel to ME is a waist of time and money. Maybe on a 5.56 can that saw abuse. It will most likely be used on a 10.5" AR SBR, and an FAL, as well, if I can fit all three with the proper reflex adaptors and Inconel x-750 muzzle brakes. Note that all three are select fire, so they might see...
