Re: Another Obama Solar Company Goes Bankrupt ...Taxpayers L

I would love to save the planet by installing photovoltaic cells on my house. The problem is, that's not a good way to save the planet! PV cells are still extremely energy intensive to build, and are horribly inefficient at converting the sun's energy to electricity. Add to that the toxic waste nigh...

Re: Ballistics investigations and suppressors

There have been a few discussions on this in the past, and there might be a couple of ways to tell. First would be the fact that a bullet travelling through a suppressor will be exposed to the gasses escaping the barrel for a longer period of time, and as such, would have more residue on them. I'm n...

Re: Obama: Government Spending 'Made This Country Great'

I went to go see Gen. Wesley Clark about a month ago and I think he used those exact same words. (Little did I know when I signed up for the lecture, he ran for president on the Democrat ticket back in 2004) I do agree with some things though. The interstate system and the railroad were indeed good ...

Re: 22-250 Sub

Use a case that is the minimum size. Who would choose an overbore cartridge to tinker with subs? Agreed. I can see the appeal of shooting a .22 caliber bullet with a lot more mass than a .22 at subsonic speeds, so I won't just say "shoot .22lr". However, I think the 22/250 is a poor choic...

Re: Silver

I also wonder if anyone would even take silver coins if the SHTF. I don't think I would. Bullets, food and the like would probably be more valuable. .22's would probably be like gold. Because (some) people are always looking forward. They want to have some wealth whenever stability is restored and ...

Re: Legalized prostitution on the way?

You see, that's the kind of s--t that pisses me off! No, not you Hush, or the concept of legalizing prostitution, but the survey question they asked: "To help solve America's fiscal problems, should the country legalize and tax marijuana?" Every time I hear "Legalize it and tax it&quo...

It's possible he could have cut his hand on Zimmerman's tooth, or the sidewalk, but the idea that he didn't, doesn't rule anything out. I was thinking about this in class today. Even if Martin bro...

Re: Trayvon Martin’s body showed no signs of struggle

I read this today and wondered how many people would assume this was from an official autopsy. It wasn't. It was the opinion of the funeral director. You know, the guy that takes advantage of people in a time of crisis and makes them feel guilty if they try to cut costs. Yeah, his opinion means a lo...

Re: Silver

What got me to thinking about this today was a link for an ad on one of Hush's news posts that advertised how to buy silver for $3. In it, the guy talks on and on about the merits of silver. One of his selling points was when silver is used to produce the many things it's used in today, from electro...

I know why people play though - superstition. You secretly believe you have a better chance to win than you actually do. You do have a much better chance of winning if you play than if you don't. ...and people do win. My wife buys a ticket or two every week. My only gripe is that she doesn't check ...

Silver

I just finished reading Survivors by James Wesley Rawles. In it (of course) he not only espouses the value of silver as a SHTF currency, but as a good way to stand your ground against inflation. Silver prices are currently about $32/oz. A year or two ago, it was almost $50/oz. But ten years ago, it ...

Re: Lottery

At face value ($640M or $500M - Two different estimated jackpots on their web site) and a ticket costs $1, while a bit risky, it could actually be a good investment. Until you consider that you don't get $640M or $500M up front. You either get $462M or $359M of that as a lump sum, or the full $640 o...

Interesting to see how the mother is handling this. (Or should I say how she is failing to handle it.) He better have a gun. With the Black Panthers, and everyone after his butt. I agree! If anyone has a demonstrated "need" for a concealed carry weapon right now, it's Zimmerman. I certainly hope he has another gun in his possession. If not, maybe I could get my 15 minutes of fame by offeri...

IMO - Any government official who conspires to take away the rights guaranteed to the citizens of the USA, without going through the proper channels (i.e. a Constitutional Convention), has good reason to fear those citizens and their guns.
