Re: 9X39MM Rifle... Possible?
Don't know if this is relevant or not, but when the 45-70 lost commercial support, Marlin stepped up with the "444 Marlin", which was basically just a greatly elongated 44 Mag with more powder. It behaved a lot like a 45-70, but they found that the 44 Mag bullets they were loading couldn't...

...Part of their defense, records show, is that they acted on behalf of the government. In response, a judge recently added the United States government as a defendant... Just read the whole thing. Had to re-read it, because it's convoluted, but that above quote tickled me immensely. Alcohol, Tobac...

You could probably make that same claim if I was constantly logging into a predominately Canadian forum and whining incessantly about how awful Canada and its people are.... but I don't. That's you. You're so butt-hurt that you literally export it. blah, blah, blah, blah... ....And you have the teme...

Re: Turns out the ATF is evil in many ways
I STILL haven't suggested laws or other government involvement in tobacco distribution and production. Quite the opposite in fact. But you guys have an obsession with the idea that anyone not a 'conservative' must by definition advocate government interference. It's almost like you don't understand...

Re: Turns out the ATF is evil in many ways
You make a lot of good points, but I will only address this one. Drug dealers are violent because the drugs they move are illegal. Agreed. Amsterdam further enforces your point. Prior to Prohibition, alcohol dealers were non-violent. During Prohibition, bootleggers were violent and police corruptio...

Re: Turns out the ATF is evil in many ways
So you're cool with meth and fentanyl dealers I take it, by the same capitalist reasoning? That's a difficult question, because drug-dealers and violent crime go hand-in-hand. They're also not currently contributing to the tax-burden. Tobacco farmers, on the other hand, don't have a reputation and ...

Re: Turns out the ATF is evil in many ways
You can choose not to buy tobacco products. No one is forced into this. Upon buying and using a pack of cigarettes, you can decide not to purchase and use any more. Tobacco is a method of trading pleasure for life expectancy, which isn't significantly different from a host of other perilous activiti...

Re: Jury finds OH man not guilty of making 196 silencers
I'm glad the guy was found "not-guilty", but not because those aren't obviously silencer parts. The lawyer had big balls? Hell, the guy had big balls to be on probation and sell that crap on the internet. Still... it's got an epic kind of feel to it. Personally, I think the ATF screwed thi...

Re: Evo-9, piston stuck - seeking help
All done. There was a LOT of carbon in there. The ultimate combination which got this free was a three-part solution: 1 - solvent/lube. I used "Super Slick Slick Stuff", but I think "Liquid Wrench" or possibly even WD-40 would've worked fine. The only important quality of whateve...

Re: Evo-9, piston stuck - seeking help
Many apologies; it isn't the piston that's stuck, it's the fixed spacer. On the contrary, I can wiggle the piston a little bit, but the fixed-spacer seems tight in there, and is neither falling out freely, nor allowing the piston to move out. It's kind of good news, because it practically guarantees...

Re: Evo-9, piston stuck - seeking help
Did you try using a barrel screwed on to the extension to help with leverage? It's most likely carbon build up behind the piston. I found that "DUB WHEEL CLEANER" really helps with carbon build up, however, I don't know it's affects on Aluminum. I've only used it on steel silencer mounts....

Re: Gander Mountain likely to file bankruptcy this month
I'm in Augusta, GA, and they just opened one here a year or two ago. They did this just after a Cabela's opened, and there's already an Academy here. Point being, Gander Mountain is far and away outclassed and out-priced by either Cabela's or Academy. There's no saving one basic fact of that store: ...

Re: Congress votes to repeal Social Security gun control regs--passed 2/15
If this was purely about altruism and public safety from people living on the public dime, then how about opening welfare recipient records to police departments? This is all kinds of bad law, but if the "Social Security gun control regs" above is done "for purposes of good", the...

In which case, maybe the opportunity to see the inside of someone else's house is interesting. I know it was for me when I delivered pizzas long ago. That's just creepy. :| You ever see that movie "Se7en"? The first victim was a grossly obese 'shut-in'. I saw that movie and was mortified ...

Since their purported purpose is to catch criminals, it seems to me, and my limited understanding of the world, that an investigation is required. Kinda hard to investigate when you don't show up. Most murders remain unsolved. Shall we just chuck the idea of a murder investigation and have the next...

Re: Many gunowners say 4th Amendment just died--not so fast
The vetting we did for medical school seems to have worked quite well. Funny you mention that, I was just thinking that as an analogy, too many cops with too little crime that then begin to nitpick at otherwise decent people committing otherwise non-crime... it sounds a lot like Lupis or many other...

Re: Many gunowners say 4th Amendment just died--not so fast
Require each cop to have a personal insurance policy. His policy must be reviewed annually. Enough problems, and he becomes uninsurable. No policy? Can't hire ya. Sorry. Is this insurance policy tax deductible? (not really a relevant question, just curious). Devil's Advocate: some of the proposals ...

Let's say you're emperor of the US. As an emperor, you have essentially unlimited power since you are the law, but as a human, you still cannot change the minds, personalities, or character of individuals. Now you're acknowledging corrupt police departments and/or corrupt individual cops. What do yo...

Where you live now... different cop mentality? Yes. Vastly better. While I was in ND it was much, much better, and my new place is even better than that. Fewer cops = less scumbaggery. Why do you theorize that this is the case? Also, do you think you dealt with a bad bunch in a portion of Georgia, ...

Evo-9, piston stuck - seeking help
Hello, I have an Evo-9 from about 2007. I have been using it on a rifle with the fixed-insert in it, but now I want to put it back on my GLOCK. I can easily unscrew the rear end-cap that accesses the piston and spring, and I was also easily able to shake out the fixed spacer. However, I cannot seem ...

Same crew just did almost the exact same thing to a friend about two months ago. They took $26K in cash and a few of his cooler guns. Good men just trying to do a hard job...
