Re: AAC flash hiders are heavy...
All the quick attach cans use 4oz+ flash hiders/brakes. You have to add that to the listed weight of a can to accurately compare it to a thread-on can. This is why I chose a thread-on Ranger 2 for my lightweight build. Has anyone calculated the weight savings in machining off the prongs? For a muzzl...

Re: Help me pick my 5th supressor
Try out a lightweight 5.56 can. A 15 oz or less can on an AR15 with a 16" pencil barrel feels like an AK74, handling wise- the difference in feel between a setup like that and a typical 'government profile' barrel with a 20oz+ QA can/mount setup is impressive. Does the mini4 stay quiet enough o...

Re: Gemtech Trek-T Thoughts?
I'd want to see baffles with round count too and compare with another rifle can. You might put together your thoughts about what you want from a suppressor and then ask gemtek if the trek t will work. Lighter is always better, but personally I'm staying away from Ti in cans for semi autos until I se...

Re: Gemtech Trek-T Thoughts?
The research I've done suggests that baffle wear increases significantly the shorter your barrel is, using a quick attach suppressor with a brake as the muzzle device/sacrificial baffle can help transfer some of that wear from the suppressor to the brake (which you can replace), titanium baffles wea...

Re: How could AAC improve the Element 2?
I picked the Element 2 for its low FRP, light weight, good pistol performance, one-inch diameter, and short length. I remember liking the cylindrical look of the E2 over the pipe look of the E1, for what that's worth. The only thing I can see to improve would be ease of takedown for cleaning, though...

Re: Techniques to limit exposure to the the sonic “crack”
I think shooting more or less "away" from your neighbor's property will provide the best results. I've noticed that being anywhere parallel to the path of a supersonic bullet allowed me to hear the bullet's path and origin. It sounded like tearing cloth and passed, in this instance, from l...

Re: Shorty 5.56 cans
I was most impressed by the low light performance of "full size" equivalent Ops Inc can I saw. I wasn't impressed by its sound performance to weight ratio. It also had a LOT of blast baffle wear, but I didn't know the round count.

Re: STAMP APPROVAL!... and now frustration...
My Element 2 is the same. I think you just panicked because you weren't expecting that to happen. I got the impression that the rear cap wasn't supposed to come off as well. I just tightened it back on and haven't had any issues. Rocksett is amazing. It doesn't give when it gets hot but can still be...

Re: AAC at SHOT
The old Ranger 3 model displayed for 2013 SHOT looked like a shorter M42000 with thread adapter and IIRC was said to have the same or similar baffle stack. The new Ranger 3 looks different, more like the new economy quick attach suppressor line you guys are offering. Can you comment on the makeup of...

Re: Video/Picture request: Saker night flash performance
Thank you very much for the response Andrew. This became a larger concern for myself and some friends after a night shooting suppressed rifles with and without NV. It was surprising to see suppressors being outperformed by flash hiders. This started a discussion about ways to cut down on flash at ni...

Re: AAC at SHOT
So, even if the tube is not the serialized part of the silencer... If the tube needs replaced the can is dead and a new $200 tax and form 4 transfer is needed. That seems to change things. Re: Availability of Coastal Gun suppressors
I've only heard rumors they stopped making cans, but it's 3rd hand and originated in a gunshop.
I can't keep from commenting that there are better made silencers for the same money. Their rifle silencers are obscenely heavy.

Re: AAC at SHOT
Originally, there was talk about putting the serial number pm the Ranger 3's rear-most part and using a sort of sectional design to allow for future repairs without the hassle and wait of a new stamp. The new Ranger 3 pictured above seems to show the serial number on the forward section. Can anyone ...

Video/Picture request: Saker night flash performance
Can we get a video or pictures displaying both Sakers' flash signature at night, preferably visible light and night vision? After noting the flash signature from several suppressors and finding them to be surprisingly less effective than purpose-built flash hiders, I'm very interested to see the Sak...

Re: Silencerco founder Mike Pappas leaves
So, is Silencerco going corporate on us? Sure seems like it. From Silencerco's official press release they said Pappas wouldn't agree with where the company was heading. Mike had a conservative viewpoint. Sounds to me he wanted to keep operations small and in-house, or independent. I just hope they...

Re: 7.62 can opinions
The YHM .30 cal Phantom LT can seems disappointing after seeing this video from Silencershop. If their testing was done correctly and that particular example wasn't an aberration, the Phantom LT's sound performance with .308 sucked at a 145dB average. It's cheaper than the SDN6 and weighs the same a...

Re: New Suppressor Owner Impressions - SureFire Rifle & AAC
A thread-on can is a good way to cut 4-5 oz off the weight if you can stand having to remove the can with tools, degrease the threads, and attach with Rocksett. I've used a Ranger 2 snugged by hand and secured with a few drops of Rocksett for over a year now, including monthly 3gun and running drill...

And they'll both transfer on a tax and cavity-search-free form 5- and I can't say what that means to me! My butt still hurts from that last roadblock coming home from shopping. I'll certainly never buy eggs and Clorox Cleanup on the same trip again.
Thanks CSR Doubloon. I knew we could count on you!
