Re: GSG-522 SD Integral
Joe you do make a good point actually. Hadn't looked at it like that. Im afraid though that with such a small baffle stack and large reflex chamber it will have loud first round pop and poor suppression overall if I dont port it. I thought about threading the muzzle and adding an adapter to use my m...

GSG-522 SD Integral
So I just took a GSG-522 SD on a trade and as my machinist mind overcomes me I cant help but want to F1 this into an integral suppressor. Now unfortunately you cant shorten this barrel short enough to keep ammo subsonic so Ill just stick to subsonic ammo for it. Also I dont feel like paying double f...

Check the slide, it may already be cut for a bushing. If so just fit a bushing to the new barrel and your good.

Re: Staying on the correct side of the law, AR15 build
It is my understanding that having ANY piece of a full auto trigger component in your possession while owning the SA version of the weapon it fits is illegal. This does not include the bolt carrier as that is not part of the trigger group. Markings are just marking, they mean nothing. Oddly enough I...

Hahaha! I got the same error, which means you need to be a member to view the post. Oddly enough as some point in the past I had apparently gotten an account there and my laptop saved the login and password so I was able to see the post.

Re: My design for QA/QD Muzzle Brake
I personally keep the ports on my brakes the same ID across both baffles. The OD thread on the brake can be any size you desire as your going to single point a female thread of the same spec into the rear mount of the suppressor. I used 7/8x16 double start on that for 2 reasons, speed of movement al...

Re: My design for QA/QD Muzzle Brake
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v630/McLarenross/308BrakeLong2_zps848138b6.jpg With a few revisions. The OD is now 0.785", first port is still 0.625" and second is 0.500. I changed the thread to 7/8x16tpi double start. I reduced the length of the thread relief cause it was just too long...

Re: My design for QA/QD Muzzle Brake
The OD of the main body of the brake is determined by the minor thread diameter of the 7/8x9 thread. I used a single start thread but you could use any thread you wanted to. A single 9tpi thread 0.375 long with a 0.125" thread relief would only need about four and a half turns to lock up agains...

Re: My design for QA/QD Muzzle Brake
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v630/McLarenross/308BrakeLong_zpsd6d1073e.jpg Here I made a 3D view for you with my own dimensions. The OD at the rear of the taper is 1". Long part of the body is 0.70" OD with the ports being 0.625" each. The thread is 0.875 x 9tpi and 3/8" lo...

Re: My design for QA/QD Muzzle Brake
The 30* taper does 2 things for you. 1, it provides a small amount of lock up when the two tapers mate with each other and should prevent the can from backing off. 2, it also provides some alignment as long as proper concentric tolerances are held during machining. I think your last design is a good...

Re: My design for QA/QD Muzzle Brake
Thanks for the input folks. Binder, much appreciated you measuring the threads on that. You're right of course. Heck, they could have used a metric thread just to be cute. :) Metric ACME didn't have as good a fit as the Inch ACME. The thread gauge probably didnt fit quite right cause of the high he...

Re: Form 4 wording - Suppressor vs Silencer
its also pretty ambiguous. I bet there are comps and flash hiders out there that will cause 1-2 db of attenuation. Per that definition it would be a silencer. You can take 15-20dB off a 22LR pistol by just adding 10 inches of BBL. Yep. Pick up an old Winny or Remmington target rifle with the 27-29&...

Re: 'Helical Baffle Technology'
As has been pointed out in the past, the flutes on the TBAC baffles are neither helical, or spiral. They are cut in a straight line along an angle. What you are seeing as "sprial" is an optical illusion.

You have way too much meat on the end caps there. Those could be reduced to half their length and still be just fine.

All subsonic round work well in similar designs?
It is pretty well researched and established that for subsonic 22LR, K Baffles and various mono-core designs work well for suppression. Does this translate to similar performance for larger caliber subsonic ammo? Im in the process of designing a dedicated suppressor for a 9" Blackout I am going...

Interesting. Looks like the same core design scaled to the different calibers. That mono design may work well for rimfire but is not that effective for the centerfires.

Re: Building a 22/24 integral can
I would replace that first baffle and possibly the second one too with a spacer to allow for expansion. The baffles as you have them now but right up to the crown of the barrel and will not allow any gasses to flow into the area behind over the barrel.
