Not to speak for the OP , but there are several sites selling lathed end caps center marked /threaded and centering tools for the freeze plugs . If you can run a hand drill you can do a build

I do not have steel specs , Dementions are to mimic a 2-D cell maglight .

Buy the cutter and go steel , if/when pvc degrades and breaks you cannot legally replace the piece at home with another one . Edited to add , This might be of interest to you as it is steel tubing without the button hole . Not going to make it cheaper , but might just make it better http://www.shop....

Figure a buck a piece for freeze plugs , if you buy a whole box thats 10 bucks . From SD tactical the end caps were $ 29 a piece and the centering tool about $20 . a couple of bucks for some pvc or conduit . Little Machine Shop is now offering a larger Steady Rest with a 2" opening for the mini lathes. Good to know . I try not to visit their site often because it just costs too damned much by the time I check out . Lack of willpower will be the death of me , and likely the first time the wife pick...

I have one of the little 7x12 lathes . You can modify the rest " fingers " by extending the slots and get 1.5 in the rest without a problem . I don't know how the lathe would handle Ti though . The only thing i have threaded our on the end of the ways like that is Al and it worked ok for t...
