Re: .22LR, 17 HMR, .22 WMR, 5.7x28, Blast Chamber size
Experiment. Ha, ha. I may bring it down to .250" or dump it altogether. Here is how it looks with a .250" spacer in there. Seems short?? http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y94/jmortens/Suppressorat250_zps001edee7.jpg I am sitting right at .350" for my spacer (little less than 3/8")...

Re: .22LR, 17 HMR, .22 WMR, 5.7x28, Blast Chamber size
I am sitting right at .350" for my spacer (little less than 3/8"). Will I have a big FRP or still be somewhat quiet? Maybe I should bring it down to .250? I supposed I could cut it down after the fact if FRP is not being nice. Thanks! General consensus is that for centerfire calibers, you ...

.22LR, 17 HMR, .22 WMR, 5.7x28, Blast Chamber size
Hi all, My buddy and I are working on a k-baffle suppressor. This is meant to be a very robust "over designed" version that will be used primarily for .22lr but will see duty with 17 HMR, .22 WMR, 5.7x28, .22 Hornet. For materials, the tube will be Titanium (of some TBD type) and everythin...

Re: Threaded End Cap Design for .22lr
If I put in a .050" thread relief, that leaves .25" thread engagement.
At 28TPI, this would give me 7 threads of SS into Ti, correct?
That should be enough to hold gasses and mechanical weight.
Anyone confirm this?
Thanks.

Awesome. I am looking at using SS end caps into Ti. Overblown I know, but will be used for .22Mag and .17hmr and want it to be really strong.Dr.K wrote:0.3" thread engagement should be just fine for 28 pitch threads. I know it'll work for stainless steel.

Threaded End Cap Design for .22lr
Hi, Dumb newbie question on end caps. I have been searching the archives and am not seeing any guidelines for end cap design. Probably because they are simple, but I want to make sure. For the front end cap (the bullet exit), what is the minimum thread engagement depth required for threading into th...

Re: For those of you with a CNC mill and a .22 monocore
Hi folks. I am abandoning this project and jumping over to K-baffle design. The reason is the guy helping me and letting me use his CNC machines and making one of his own wants to do .17hmr and .22magnum, so I am designing a beefy silencer. It will weigh about 8 oz, and have SS baffles with a Ti tub...

Awesome. Thanks! Yes, it is all beefy (heavy) but you have to pay to play.
Bendersquint wrote:If your baffles are as oveboard on thickness as your tube then you won't have any problems.cpy911 wrote:Yes. It is thick at .065".
I want to run .17hmr in it as well.
I figure an all SS with Ti tube
is ok. Thoughts?

Re: .22lr silencer tube material, Aluminum vs. Stainless Ste
Interesting. Did not realize the blast chamber was to reduce FRP. Looks like I will throw that back in. The tube nominal wall is .065". I wanted it good and thick. How long should my spacer be for my blast chamber? I am running about .350" now. If I go all SS baffles, can I ditch a blast c...

Re: .22lr silencer tube material, Aluminum vs. Stainless Ste
If I go all SS baffles, can I ditch a blast chamber (AKA a spacer that offsets the first baffle from the muzzle) and just have the first baffle be the blast chamber? If I ditch the spacer and make the whole darn thing out of Stainless steel with 7 baffles I get a total weight of about 9oz +/- accord...

Re: .22lr silencer tube material, Aluminum vs. Stainless Ste
I am leaning SS, what kind of paint are you using on the SS? Do you use that high temp stuff? Also, is it OK to do a SS blast baffle and the rest Al? Do I need to put a finish on the Stainless Steel tube? What is most easy and common? No finish "needed" for the SS or Ti tubing. For me? Ti ...

.22lr silencer tube material, Aluminum vs. Stainless Steel
Hi, I am working on a form1 .22lr silencer. It will be mainly used on a pistol, but also on a rifle. I see most commercial cans use Aluminum for the tube material. My current can design will weigh about 4oz with an Aluminum tube (6061) and if I changed to Stainless Steel, the weight would go up by a...

Re: SR22 Silencerco thread adapters?
Consider yourself lucky. My buddy had a P22 and would jam 1x or 2x every mag. Usually FTF. He no longer has it. He bought a 5" extended barrel version that works better but jams sometimes. My SR22 has jammed once over hundreds of rounds, due to FTE from a low powered round. The Ruger SR22 has a...

Re: SR22 Silencerco thread adapters?
The SR22 Pistol may be a clone, but mine has gone bang for the hundreds of garbage bulk rounds I have fed it. The P22 likes a steady diet of CCI and chokes on cheap bulk federal stuff. Their picture has that little blurb at the bottom. If an adapter is needed, I want it to say SWR or Silencerco. ;) ...

Re: .22 Suppressor Thread adapter and engagement into can
This makes sense. I plan on buying a barrel and adapter for my Ruger SR-22 pistol. I will design the end cap so the adapter engages evenly. Thanks for the sanity check. Make it even with the end cap, that way you will protect the caps threads from erosion.Do that for the adapter and your rifle. Are y...

.22 Suppressor Thread adapter and engagement into can
I am working on a .22lr suppressor and wonder how far the thread adapter should engage into the end cap? That is, when I put the thread adapter bushing on the barrel (for a pistol, since barrel diameter is too small for 1/2" - 28) and then thread it into my suppressor, where should the end of t...

Re: .308 can design / dual purpose with 9mm
PM Sent with a question. I listed mine as 9mm on the Form 1 but meant I plan to utilize it for 300BLK and 308 Subsonic as well. It will be appropriately sized for 9mm (.355") use however. This build will be a stainless/aluminum combo to keep the weight down. I plan to do a future build that is ...

Re: For those of you with a CNC mill and a .22 monocore
First time logging in for over a year. I work with 57fairlane and can say that this core is indeed quiet. It outperforms both the Element and the Sparrow. First round is around 120 dB and not objectionable at all. It is longer than both, but not by much. Still under 6". There is over a years w...

Re: For those of you with a CNC mill and a .22 monocore
Would like to see a picture of the other end (bullet exit). Also, is this thrown in to a tube with end caps? Well, I used the DXF file that 57Fairlane sent over and came up with this concept: Tube: 6061 Aluminum, 1" OD and .903" ID, wall thickness of .049" (I hope that is thick enoug...

Re: Building a dual purpose 9mm and .30 caliber can?
Personally I wouldn't build a 1 can covers all but at least 2 or 3 that will perform better than the coverall. I hear ya on a one does it all thing. I have a dedicated .22lr one in the works. Then I am looking at a 9mm (would be great if it could handle 30-30 and 7.62x39) and I would stop there. Do...
