Aerogel In a Suppressor? Anyone tried?
Has anyone tried Aerogel in a suppressor? Picture a standard baffled suppressor, with all the spaces in between filled with the Aerogel, minus the bore/bullet pathway that is. I imagine it would eventually clog and possibly deform from the hot gasses after a while, but would also disrupt the sound w...

6 months almost to the day for my first one, then 14 months and a few days for the second, these two as an individual, form 1 and form 4 respectively.
Just bought my first under a trust from SS, F3 submitted 11 May 16, and the F4 submitted yesterday, 11 Jun 16 (F3 still hanging...).

Re: First form 1 can
I don't think the blast chamber spacer will qualify as a extra part. If all the parts fit in the "complete" configuration, I don't think there is a requirement that all parts be installed all the time. For example if you built a pistol can with 6 K cups, If you removed one and shot it wit...

Re: Supressorgedon 41F
I suspect you're right in anticipating an uptick or trending up in both applications and wait times over the next few months. With trusts, I expect an even keel or a slight drop, while individual applications will increase ever so slightly between now and next January. My intent is to trust buy one ...

The only thing keeping me going with the anticipated wait is that my local NFA dealer is also an

Re: Difference in sound for different material?
This post got me thinking, which got me Googling. Found this page that does an admirable job of explaining sound attenuation in a
variety of materials including gases, liquids and solids.

Re: Confused about form 3->form 4 submission timing
I also thought what you are thinking. I emailed Silence Shop asking the very thing, they replied that since I bought an in-stock item, with a serial number, I had nothing to worry about. They did not specifically state they were submitting the form 4 ahead of the form 3 approval, but that is what I ...

Re: Difference in sound for different material?
I suspect that the aluminum, (assumptions here) being thicker would have a lower frequency sound attenuation if you use 60xx or 70xx Aluminum and appropriate thicknesses for a sound suppressor. Titanium I imagine would have a higher, less pleasing tune to it, but the trade off in strength and durabi...

Re: Form 3 Wait Times...Am I missing something?
I bought my last one through the silencer shop, under trust and paid the tax stamp at the same time. I emailed them yesterday asking for clarification on form 3 wait vice starting the form 4 and the 41F interfering with mine etc. They responded basically saying all is OK, I am good to go since I alr...

Re: Form 3 Wait Times...Am I missing something?
Isn't the form 3 (dealer to dealer) really just a rubber stamp, that doesn't have anything to do with the end-user/buyer? As long as the FFL/SOT license from one to the other is valid, "approved"? Hope my latest purchase under trust makes it under the deadline (41P), as I haven't gotten it...

Re: Piston on a solid barrel (pistol cal rifle)
So the same movement, compounded by the springs not also having the linked barrel motion there to help absorb the violent reaction. Makes sense, thanks. Edit: 5 seconds on Google I found this AAC fixed barrel spacer from AAC, for their Ti-Rant 45 line :) http://www.midwayusa.com/product/381742/advan...

Re: Piston on a solid barrel (pistol cal rifle)
If you replace the spring with a fixed barrel spacer, you should not have an issue. If you leave in the spring in, it will eventually damage the threads on your barrel and piston. I'm intrigued with this. What forces are acting on this that would damage the threads that otherwise wouldn't damaged t...

Piston on a solid barrel (pistol cal rifle)
What are your thoughts on shooting through a piston on a fixed barrel host?
Specifically a Ti-Rant with 9mm piston on a 9mm AR host. I know it isn't 'needed',
but will it cause any actual harm? I suspect it won't be an issue, but figured I'd ask.
Thanks

Re: How far have you driven for a conjugal visit?
To shoot? I'd drive an hour or two....maybe. Depends on the can and my excitement level.
Just to fondle? An hour or two once to molest, once to pick up with the stamp.

Re: .45 acp can option
The Ti-Rant 45M has hardened 17-4 PH SS baffles in the main stack, and 7075 Aluminum baffles in the secondary stack (that really don't get very dirty).
My vote is for the 45M as it is modular, and a absolute riot to shoot in short or long configuration.

Ti-Rant 45 (45 ACP piston)
Can anyone tell me the salient differences between the regular .578x28 and .578x23 Flush (1911) pistons? Is it purely cosmetic (literally sits up against the crown of the muzzle and does nothing extra) or does it perform some specific function on 1911 style pistols, that the regular piston does not?...

Re: Specwar 556K question
I've shot my 30 cal can on my 300 Blk (SBR) wet before to no ill effect. Think it has everything to do with the pressure produced by the given round vice pistol/rifle. Low pressure cartridges should be fine in either platform. With that said, very little difference in sound atenuation at the ear wet...

Re: Gasbuster handles - do they work?
Yes they help, a lot.
If you are getting a LOT of gas, try the gas buster in combination with
the silicone trick and/or an adjustable gas block.
I've heard good things about the gas bleeding forward assist but have never used or needed one.

Re: Suppressor for new 300 blk build
My YHM QD mount fits fine and holds tight both under a rail and out in the open. If the barrel threads are concentric to the bore, your QD mount mounted to it should be as well.
