Re: Liberty Mystic on 16" AR

Work on that stance . It's the result of borrowing a pair of jeans several sizes too large without a belt that you must struggle to keep from falling down while shooting because your regular pairs of jeans are put away for the summer, in the middle of an 80 degree day in July, because you...

F/A rated 9mm pistol cans on F/A M11/9's

http://i1349.photobucket.com/albums/p757/Marcus-99/Firearms/20140724_161912_RichtoneHDR_zpsbb939e56.jpg Sometimes I see guys ask how well the common 9mm cans that are F/A rated (such as the Octane, Tirant and Mystic) will work on F/A SMG's. I can't speak for Uzi's and MP5's, but today I put togethe...

Re: Liberty Mystic on 16" AR

The mystic sounds sooooo good on an AR I'm seriously considering whether it's worth it for me to get a dedicated 5.56 can. I can't wait until mine gets out of NFA jail. Here's my friend's Mystic on my host:

Re: Input needed regarding Octane and 9mm jacket separation.

^^^ I think the rifling twist rate on Beretta 92 barrels is 1:10" which is fast enough for 147 and 158gr bullets. Same as Glock barrels with 1:9.84" rifling. It's not the twist rate that I suspect is the culprit. I think the lands/grooves are perhaps too sharp, or the step in the chamber ...

Re: Input needed regarding Octane and 9mm jacket separation.

Update for the OP and anyone interested. I feel pretty confident that there is something unique to the 92FS's rifling that is shredding platting. Today I shot 100rds of Montana Gold CMJ (jacketed, not plated) and I still found little bits of jacket fragments in my Octane, albeit no lead deposits on ...

Re: Input needed regarding 9mm jacket separation.

AKDOC and I have been in touch off and on regarding his issue over the past few months. I originally had erosion of my Octane 9's endcap, although I cannot say if it's a similar pattern to his as I don't recall having seen a picture of his. The wear (very slight knicks on the endcap) seemed to occur...

Re: 9mm can

I'm no suppressor expert. I don't know much about baffle designs or technology, and I don't have knowledge on the finer points like some of the members do here. But what I do have is a lot of trigger time on this can. I bought my Octane9 in early 2013; it was my first NFA item and I did my research ...

Re: 9mm can

As for suppression, between the Octane and Tirant they are really about tied. Meter numbers change with ammo, temp, and elevation. The averages between the two could be higher or lower than the other on any given day. Have you shot an Octane9? Have you shot a Tirant9? Have you shot a Mystic? Have y...

Re: Plated bullets through suppressor?

Check your crimp and test. Are you using a tapered crimp? Not impressed with those bullets! Would rather shoot proper bin hard cast. That's my next step...playing with crimp. I thought I was using just a mild taper crimp but perhaps it was still too much. Not sure what you mean by "n...

Re: 9mm can

Octane 9 for clean-ability and awesome support from manufacturer. Tirant 9 for quietness and lightweight. Mystic for versatility and ruggedness. Those traits are not necessarily mutually exclusive between those suppressors. I'm just pointing out where I think each excels. And yes, I have shot all th...

Re: Plated bullets through suppressor?

I loaded up another 100rds for use in my M11/9. Before shooting them, I shot off just 1rd from my Beretta unsuppressed, which I suspected was shredding the plating, at a blank piece of white printer paper. If I was correct in my theory that it was the barrel, and not my reloads, that was causing the...

Re: CAC 9 and VERS 9 comparison?

Has anyone fired the CAC 9 and the VERS 9 side by side? I already have a CAC 9 but was wondering if upgrading the baffle stack to VERS 9 specifications for $100- would be worth it? My CAC 9 is only about a year old and has the latest baffle stack, suppressor will see most use on an M11/nine. Sit ti...

Re: Any new insight???

I haven't seen any W231 on the shelves in 1.5yrs. The same goes for Varget, except for a very brief window when for a few days a LGS had a big shipment of it (I managed to snag 4lbs over the course of that week as I was working a few minutes away). There's just nothing out there for those of use who...

Re: Plated bullets through suppressor?

I highly doubt the plating was coming off due to speed. The loads were subsonic in all the hosts, and as far as I can discern, the plating ONLY stripped in the Beretta barrel. Didn't find any fragments in my octane. Was shooting these in my lone wolf barrel: bullseye 3.9 grns, avg fps 1009 out of th...

Re: Plated bullets through suppressor?

A good advice would be to test the bullets through your particular barrel first. I've seen this before with Glocks and certain brands, they stripped the plating at he grooves creating a huge outward spray of copper and lead that could mess up a silencer pretty fast. It's not only a matter of veloci...

Thanks for the feedback. Sounds like I should be good-to-go. I'll load up some & head out to the range and report back shortly You'll be loading subs so no worry about running them too fast. Like you say Just watch your crimp. Sounds like you are carful and do homework first, many don't then hav...

A 5320 I just got back was approved on a sunday. Two week turnaround time as well. ATF definitely seems to be trying to reduce wait times across the board as far as I can tell.

Those cores that Liberty produces really are a work of art. I bet you could put them in a fancy art museum and patrons would think they are a sculpture.

Plated bullets through suppressor?

Specifically, Xtreme 147gr RN plated 9mm bullets through an Octane 9HD. So far I have been using Montana Gold 147gr CMJ bullets. They're great; no complaints. But the Xtreme plated bullets are significantly cheaper. I bought 500 of them a few months back and haven't loaded them up yet. Before I do s...
