Wasn't one of the points of the Gemtax letter that the dimensions of the can are not limitless? How will they know if the can's been monkeyed with if there's no length listed on the registration? I just woke up, so excuse me if this is a stupid question/comment.... With an SBR, you can send the ATF...

Yes, I understood that it took 5 months.....I was asking WHEN you went through the process. Was it recently?

If there is a market- tap it. No pain no gain. Wait until the new "tax" year, that way you are getting more than 5 months out of it. The tax year begins July 1- it is not a rolling 12 months. Does the SOT paperwork take as long as the FFL does? My FFL took right at 5 months If you don't m...

Yeah, someone has a pretty sick sense of humor, don't they? I don't think Vai could play that bad BEFORE he learned how to play.

from ATF but it wasn't my examiner on either of my Form 4s - unless my third, more recent Form 4 (which I actually don't have the serial number for yet - my fault) has caused some sort of problem. Guess I need that serial ASAP... It's pretty obvious this is why you were being contacted. I'm curious...

If you don't mind my asking, when did you submit your check and Form 4?....I'm going to guess it was around the second week or so of October if our pending dates are any indication. Hopefully I'll be hearing something in the next several weeks.

The once with a stock always with a stock is for pumps, lever actions, and semi autos. PTK covered the SBS issue, but this is also untrue. Pay your tax and your SBR/SBS can have as much or as little stock as you want. There's actually more options but that's too much complexity. I had looked into a...

You can run any length upper on a Form 1 (SBR) lower....just not the other way around.

AAC suppressor use with surplus .308 ammo

I'm new to the .308 world. I have a 762-SD currently being processed, and it will be used on a Rem 700 SPS Tactical. My question is this: - Is it safe to shoot the German (MEN) .308 surplus ammo, and the South African .308 surplus with the suppressor? My concern is bullet stability and baffle strike...

Thanks for the replies. They helped to push me on further in the direction I was headed anyway, which is for the CLEO to sign. I just wasn't sure if there was an advantage to the Trust route that I wasn't aware of. But in reading these replies and talking to a couple people today, the Trust doesn't ...

Any reasons NOT to use a Trust?

My local CLEO is NFA friendly, so sign-offs don't seem to be an issue. I'm married, and I realize a Trust would simplify things for my spouse if something were to happen to me. However, I have a hard time wrapping my head around legal-type issues, so I'd like to hear any thoughts and/or reasons on w...

Thanks. So to clarify, you're saying that there are no potential ramifications to be seen over time, from shooting corrosive ammo through your cans?

Supressed 5.45

I would like to supress an AR15 w/5.45 upper, as well as .223, with the same can (which I don't yet own). My question is, after firing surplus Bulgy or Russian ammo, if a person were to soak the can in a Windex solution and flush out really good with hot water, and then follow that with some CLP Bre...

Back stop incidents

I wouldn't advise using tires for a backstop. At least not on lesser calibers....I won't use them no matter what I'm shooting, 'cause you never know when the planets will align and Murphy will screw you. All I know is that a co-worker and his son were shooting a .38 special and had some tires as a b...
