Re: Two Piece Suppressor Design

Tapered core with a corresponding reverse taper in the tube? Sort of a morse taper idea? That's not something I would want to try to hold tolerance on without really sophisticated equipment or some really serious old school skillz....not gonna try that on my 9" South Bend

Re: Has anyone tried forming a cone from sheet metal?

There was also a post a while back, few years I think, where a guy blacksmithed K's out of washers on a miniature anvil, and used a welder, then a grinder. welded a nut to the rear for attachment, then used a tube maybe muffler tube or some scrap, anyhow... It seriously looked like something from t...

Re: 22LR monocore

I think it looks awesome!

Does the 'nut' extend back over the barrel? It looks like it is longer than the threaded section it fits onto. What thread size are the stub/nut?

I assume the internal thread is 1/2- 28 because the video shows it on an AR.

He doesn't really have that option if he put 12" on his Form 1, does he?

Anyone need a refresher on what happens when sodium is exposed to air?

Ugh.

Just be sure to use plenty of cooling water when you make the cut

I wonder if that's not a spellcheck/autocorrect error--fourth when it meant to say first?

Does it provide enough of a benefit to consider doing it for a one-off form 1 build?

Rough vs. smooth internal contours?

Given that sound is energy and the purpose of a silencer is to dissipate that energy, is there any merit to a design that intentionally creates a rough surface on the baffles? My thinking is that rough surfaces would create greater drag on the exhaust gasses, causing them to slow down as they dump f...

Re: O ring in closely fitted monocore 22LR can?

I found an image online of someone else's design. I don't like that the tube can only come off in one direction, so my tube wouldn't be stepped on the end.

Re: O ring in closely fitted monocore 22LR can?

I think I understand what you're saying now, but I do not know the answer to whether or not that would be acceptable. In theory it sounds good, but I just don't know. However, I'd be a little worried about getting the tube off after it's been shot. The residue and fouling might make it difficult if...

Re: O ring in closely fitted monocore 22LR can?

First off, once the can is completed, you cannot repair it as per the ATF. "Persons other than qualified manufacturers may repair silencers, but replacement parts are “silencers” as defined in 18 U.S.C. § 921(a)(24) that must be registered and transferred in accordance with the NFA and GCA.&qu...

O ring in closely fitted monocore 22LR can?

First post, so please forgive if I'm in total noob territory here. I'm thinking of a Form 1 build and have access to a lathe and am planning on picking up a cheap mill (will cost about the same as a factory can) to do the work. I have two questions, one that's design related and a legal one. 1. I'm ...
