Re: Silencers, dirty brass, and malfunctions. I need some help

Thanks for the input fellas. Just to be clear though, it seems to be dirty ammo, and not a dirty rifle that is causing issues. I can pretty much run indefinitely on 5 round mags. I'll definitely try polishing as recommended. I like cheap fixes, and I imagine this will help with all forms of shootin...

Re: WTH is up with nfa branch?

Alright, the research assistant returned my call this evening. Apologized for not calling back sooner, but stated she is on vacation this week and only signed today for a few hours and was notified to contact me. Not sure why they couldn't just refer me to whoever is taking her calls but OK. I told...

Re: WTH is up with nfa branch?

I got a *delay* letter this morning telling me that I need to make corrections on my F1. It's a F1 silencer. There are no mistakes on the form. I'm going to call them Monday, but damn? https://i.imgur.com/He8CNqs.jpg?1 1. It is not being made from a pre-existing receiver or manufacturer. So, I list...

Re: Ruger Silent SR

I like S&B subsonic 22 LR. It stays subsonic in my suppressed pistols and rifles and I buy it by the case. Winchester subsonic is pretty good but louder than the S&B. Aguilla subsonic, when I can find it in Alaska, is about equal to the S&B in quietness but costs me a little bit more bec...

Re: Disappointed in new can

Well, I sent it off to AAC and it just returned today. From what I can see, they did nothing at all. Just shrugged and sent it back. Spoke with CS, and she says there's no notes at all, and the tech that looked at it is now on vacation. All I have is the American Eagle 124 subsonic and some Speer L...

Re: OBSIDIAN with 9mm end cap

I've chewed out an Octane 9mm cap. Once it was nicked, I shot on and traced it to double tapping faster than the piston could lock up. http://i67.tinypic.com/wcodg2.jpg I can't find where they sell the 9 cap for the Octane 45 anymore. Did you get it from the special run from Silencer Shop or did it...

OBSIDIAN with 9mm end cap

I've had an Obsidian .45 since they came out. Love it and how quiet it is. I like to use foamy spray white lithium as an ablative. That stuff makes any can sound better. Anyway I bought a 9mm end cap when I could get one, already had the piston and put it on my Sig MK25 with a factory threaded barre...

Re: Disappointed in new can

I specifically use 147 grain rounds listed at 985 fps, so there shouldn't be any chance of environment bringing the rounds supersonic. I'm looking for a loud "thwack" instead of a medium "bang!". There's more to quiet ammo than just velocity. Different powders burn differently a...

Re: Disappointed in new can

Go shoot it outside. Federal American Eagle 147 subsonic ammo sucks... it's inherently loud. You have a good platform for testing suppressors, it's what Tyler from Silencer Shop uses a lot of the time in his videos. I think it's that you are shooting it inside. Even shooting outside at the range, wh...

Re: Kinda new to the whole, thing. GM-45.

Strongly suggest that you sell your GM-45 for whatever you can get for it and buy a Liberty Mystic X, or a Cosmic (more versatile, has a core hole big enough for .45), an AAC Tirant 9M or 45M (again, more versatile as it, is designed for .45 but easily and efficiently shoots 9mm), a Rugged Obsidian ...

Re: Lost Baffle, Bad customer service.

I still believe that AAC is wrong on the baffle issue. I can't find anything where they could not rebaffle or recore a suppressor. Send it to someone else next time. I believe any SOT manufacturer can help do the job. I could be wrong, but AAC may have been holding out due to the liability of the l...

Re: Lost Baffle, Bad customer service.

They Can Not shorten the tube to less than what the length of the complete unit is listed on your Form 4 or Form 3. This would constitute "making a new suppressor" and you would have to get a new tube with a new serial number and pay another $200. If they did it, then the ATFness falls on...

Re: Lost Baffle, Bad customer service.

Just ask AAC to shorten the tube for the remaining baffles. That should end the pissing contest. He did! Dec 8 @ 2048hrs. They Can Not shorten the tube to less than what the length of the complete unit is listed on your Form 4 or Form 3. This would constitute "making a new suppressor" and...

I recently picked up a GM-45 and am more than happy with it. The 3 other people who have shot it thought it sounded pretty good to. Quite frankly, I read this thread after I purchased the GM-45, which really freaked me out about the quality of the series of suppressor. That said, given the posted h...
