3/16" width, .230" deep on the blast baffle, .215" on the second, .200" on the rest. Blast baffle cone is .065" thick, # 2 is .055", the other 7 are .045"

Re: Need help on a .30 cal build

For a 1.5" OD ~8" .30 can for supersonic use, I do single clipped 50° conical baffles with progressive spacing, skirts going .75, .65, .55, .5, .45, .425, .4, .35, ~.2. Muzzle brake mounts are better than direct thread for most applications. This is one I did yesterday. The owner is using ...

Re: Help threading barrel

So, what are my options then? Edited to add: I don't have a spider on the outboard of the lathe. Should I make one for it? It currently has an attachment for the collet closer. That would be the simplest and best solution. Pretty easy to make, and keeps your work close to the chuck, minimizing chat...

Re: Help threading barrel

would pulling the barrel and threading between centers be good enough? For a muzzle brake, sure. Not for a suppressor. You might get lucky and have the last inch of bore just happen to align well enough with the breech and muzzle, but I can tell you that most every rifle barrel I thread has well ov...

Re: Help threading barrel

Sorry, I should have been more specific i guess. I've done threading, that's not an issue. What I need help with is making sure it's concentric with the bore. I dont have a spider, and the barrel will be too short to fit all the way through the headstock. Then don't do it if the plan is for running...

Where does one buy heat treated 17-4? I've thought about building an oven for a while now. Aaron H1150 is available all over, and you can get all the other tempers from a few people. I don't recall whom because i heat treat my materials in-house, but it's been discussed here. Hopefully those guys w...

Re: Inconel supplier

Annealed Inconel 718 has lower tensile strength and hardness than annealed 17-4. And it's a whole lot more expensive. Inconel is also a bastard to work with, and unless you can heat treat yourself or don't mind paying $100+ to have it done, you're better off buying and using pre-treated 17-4. Anothe...

Don't suppose I can get your commentary / opinion on your designs with more and less baffles? 1. How do YOU like the sounds of low vs high pitch? 2. Do more or less baffles produce more or less blowback? 3. Failure to cycle or other failure/issues associated with more or less baffles? Thanks in adv...

Re: #baffles and low/high pitch suppression designs?

Okay , so at what point is too many baffles... too many baffles? Is there and baffle spacing between baffles to diameter ratio that is "optimal"? There's no universal answer for your question, far too many variables. The number of baffles and optimal spacing depend on can diameter & l...

7dB is HUGE!!!
7dB was the change going from crescent to double radiused.

Unclipped will suppress OK on a .22 rifle, horrible in any other application.

ecco, have you tried clipping at different heights or depths--however you look at it? I mean one clip being 1/2 inch long from the face for instance an the other one being 3/8 of an inch long from the face just for example. I'm just curious if that would change anything? I know it would the pressur...

I haven't heard from Curtis in the longest time hope he is well.I would still be surprised if a clip would yield 5 db but haven't the meter any longer to make measurements. Re: 30 Cal Form 1 Project

Looks good. Hope the crescent clips work out for you, I did not have good luck with them in subsonic or supersonic applications across multiple calibers.

I would strongly recommend heat treating your parts, especially the 416 bits. In the annealed state, 416 is softer & weaker than 304.

Re: Help! Why are my 9mm always louder than my 300blk???

You need to run subsonic ammo, and in the case of blowback carbines, the port pop may continue to be offensive no matter what ammo or suppressor is used. The AR9 you should be able to tune for reduced port noise, but expect the Scorpion to always snap your ears.

Re: Anyone experiment making high and low pressure in cans?

K baffles and Omega baffles both do what you're talking about with high and low pressure areas, but with limited effectiveness; I've achieved better suppression with conical baffles, including SPL reduction in production cans originally using Ks and Omegas like the SWR Trident and AAC Evolution. Depends on what you're trying to suppress. 9mm or 300 Blk subsonic, 12+. .308 Supersonic, go with 9. 5.56? Do a shorter tube with 5 or 6.

Re: Suppressor on Ruger PC9 Carbine?

That's the nice thing about AR based carbines; can add lots of mass to retard bolt opening. I haven't tried anything else through it yet and probably won't, as this stuff cycles so well and delivers excellent accuracy. Try Fiocchi 158 gr. It's a little more expensive than the cheap 147 gr. stuff, bu...

Re: Suppressor on Ruger PC9 Carbine?

Hi ECCO. Sounds like you've tested holding the bolt closed, if you're saying it hurts. So I'm wondering if you have a guess as to how much metal might be needed to assure reliable, durable bolt restraint, as an add-on for a 9mm PCC. Have a different model of 9mm takedown carbine and more specifical...
