(/sarc) Don't sailors have G-codes for easy replacement? Like USArmy 11b. Most HumanInventory is fungible, right? :(
As a 1460, I'm not qualified to give a good answer to that... I think we'd need a 1200 to get the right answer :?

Re: WTF item of the week!

He meant Your sacrificial part. He named his guess for the Server stack w digital access readout by saying that it was an old time ribbon-paper fed printer. Your part reminds me of a USN catapult tiedown pin. It break once steampressure is enough to surpass tensile strength of the narrowly grooved ...

Re: WTF item of the week!

I'm going with either a network attached storage tower missing it's hard drives (probably SCSI) or a optical disk cloning center missing it's drives. Re: Do Can Designs Affect Accuracy?

Variables are what determine the precision of an instrument... whether it be a thermometer or a rifle. The more variables you eliminate or mitigate, the more precise your instrument. Accuracy, on the other hand, can be corrected through adjustments. A precise thermometer that always reads 5 degrees ...

Re: New Member - How to set up a trust?

I had one done by a lawyer here in VA. He runs a pretty good gig selling trusts at $100 a pop that are VA specific. I don't think $100 is out of the question. That being said, I figure the purpose of a trust is to cover your ass in case of legal troubles, so it's worth a bit of coin to pay a lawyer ...

Didn't see one from the same seller for 9mm, but he's got a .40 s&w to .45ACP version.

Re: De-regulation and suppressor choice.

If there was no wait and no tax... I'd have a can for every gun that could take one.

Further, something tells me that Ruger (for example) would produce 22/45's and 10/22's with integrated suppressors from the factory, and they'd be the highest selling models.

Re: Form 1 Engravings

Sorry for the delayed response. Life got busy. I followed the directions on the can to the letter... sanded with 400 grit, oven bake off any oils and whatnot, acetone soak and wipe-down, 2 light coats and one medium coat separated by 10 minutes each, followed by an hour of air-dry and a full oven-cu...

Re: Form 1 Engravings

Sorry for no update... As it turns out, I definitely need to do something about the engravings. I can see them... because I know where they are. Part of why I went with the VHT (other than the cost) was that it is supposed to be reasonably robust, some kind of ceramic base to it, so I don't know abo...

Re: Form 1 Engravings

I suppose I should have waited for the final curing cycle to be done before I worried... I guess in 45 minutes or so I'll know if the VHT shrunk enough for me to not be worried about the markings not being legible.

Form 1 Engravings

I recently got around to painting my Form 1 can ( http://www.silencertalk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=132922&p=915496#p915496 ), and it seems as though my engraving was filled in by the paint... First off, I used a dremel viro-engraver to do the markings, and it seemed like they were subs...

Re: "No Machining Required" Form 1 Build?

The closest you will find are the various freeze plug "solvent trap" kits out there. At a minimum you will need a drill press.

Re: Solvent Trap Kit

Having built a solvent trap based can from a kit, my first impression is: DAAAAAAAAANG those spacers are thick. Definitely shop around a little before you put down money on any one kit. However, based on the mixed results from SDTA's attempt at a Yankee Hill style Q/D, I chose to stay away from them...

Re: Form 1 .308 Can Complete

Small update: Had a chance to compare my form 1 to a YHM .30 cal phantom on my 10" 300 blk pistol with subs at my friendly local class 3/sot/cerakote dealer today. Subjectively, Form 1 was only the tinyest bit louder than the YHM. Same length, 1/8 more diameter... so volume might have compensat...

Form 1 .308 Can Complete

Long time reader, first time poster. Figured I'd share my recently completed Form 1. 8" x 1.625" Ti "solvent trap" from Diversified Machine. 6 freeze plug baffles, Ti spacer tubes. Mounts to YHM QD's. Came in at exactly 1 lb. https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-4vA3HDJSXyI/VRTNqpv...
