Re: Rifle Flashlight suppressor end cap analysis (observatio

Sorry, mis-measured, the Maglite body is running right at 1.55" IF the Apogee or SD tac tubes are indeed at 1.55" then the standard 20 TPI maglite threading is OK. Wanted to post a warning based on my analysis of these end caps.... Measure the ID distance of the threaded portion of your Ma...

Re: Rifle Flashlight suppressor end cap analysis (observatio

Wanted to post a warning based on my analysis of these end caps.... Measure the ID distance of the threaded portion of your Maglite. You should get 1.375" The standard Maglite has additional material machined out before threading, which opens the threaded ID to 1.375" (at least on my Magli...

Re: Adapter or End cap design for indexing on the muzzle

Looks like this would work. How would you machine it? A single point thread tool can't get that far deep. I would like to know how the suppressor adapter or end cap is made to allow for shouldering on the muzzle. See AAC thread guide, they have notes on how to machine the threads, but what does the ...

Re: Adapter or End cap design for indexing on the muzzle

Just wondering how it would work to mount a suppressor to a CZ-75 with only a .502" diameter barrel. Once it is threaded, there is nothing left for a shoulder.

Adapter or End cap design for indexing on the muzzle

Just wondering what designs you use for indexing a can on the muzzle? This would be the case that the barrel diameter leaves too little shoulder for the end cap to tighten up to. I am thinking the threading would kind of be a blind thread to some "stop" point that the muzzle would index to...

Re: Long term approved Form1 with no build?

Fantastic, thanks. I am just collecting a couple of stamps and will keep them around. Hopefully, the projects for the approved stamps will be built before I croak. My guess is that it will only be more of a hassle to get stamps as time marches on, so might as well collect a couple sooner than later.

Long term approved Form1 with no build?

Quick question. I understand there is no time requirement for building a Form1 suppressor after receiving the approved tax stamp. If I were to pass away before doing the build, could I will the approved Form1 "stamp" to my son via Form5 for him to do a build per the parameters on the Form1...

Re: Freeze Plug Suppressor: Baffle Layout + Tube Thickness ?

I think the thread protector for the SD brake is still Aluminum. So you would have to wait for the steel ones to come out. But look at all that extra material they are adding! Product descriptions says "adds virtually no weight" and weight is list at 1.9oz so it must be hollow there. In an...

Re: Freeze Plug Suppressor: Baffle Layout + Tube Thickness ?

What c5_nc said! Keep it .065" minimum, don't push it. .065-.070 is a common recommendation for Form 1 builds. Commercial cans are mostly .049"-.1" I think. I would do a single taper of the threaded part down to .065. I'm not sure if the grade of the steel in the tube as been clarifie...

Re: Freeze Plug Suppressor: Baffle Layout + Tube Thickness ?

I am no expert, but .065" - .075" in steel seems like a common wall thickness around here at ST. I would not go any less for sure. Also sub-sonic used high wall freeze plugs, which might give a better optimum spacing. Yours might be a little too close together to be as effective. Also, sub...

Re: Freeze Plug Suppressor: Baffle Layout + Tube Thickness ?

End caps are at .280" thread engagement and they are aluminum. So for 20TPI we have 5ish full threads. Maybe ok for 5.56, but I would want more like .4"-.5" thread engagement, especially for anything bigger. I hear that carbon steel end caps might be coming out. This would be better t...

Re: Rifle Flashlight suppressor end cap analysis (observatio

I would think that this would work ok, with steel end caps and steel tube should be strong enough. So long as there is .5" or so of thread engagement. Can't tell from the pictures, but it looks less than .5" thread engagement. I emailed them two weeks ago asking about steel or SS end caps....

Re: Rifle Flashlight suppressor end cap analysis (observatio

My concern would be the aluminum construction material. Why wouldn't they make that out of steel? Is it strong enough with full power rounds? That was another thought I had. He is shooting a .308 through a steel tube and aluminum end caps that might have an engagement of .5". I wonder how many...

Rifle Flashlight suppressor end cap analysis (observation)

Just out of curiosity, not planning on building one, but this guy is selling maglite flashlight suppressor platform parts. The example below is for a full house rifle can (.308). I was wondering what people thought about the aluminum end caps? (with a carbon steel body). My concern is the barrel sid...

Refit? Tell me about that. How much will it cost me? Yes nice can. Warning, I am about to vent. I am however, a very frustrated customer. I researched cans to death this summer and decided on the Mystic. Form1 100% Titanium .22lr suppressor complete...thank you!

All, Thank you for all the help and comments on the design of my Form1 .22lr suppressor. Re: Liberty Mystic rated for 30-30 caliber?

Thanks Dave!

I just wrote out a check to my dealer...that was painful, but I am sure it was the right choice and function well for many years with proper care.

I plan on soda blasting the baffle/core on occasion when it looks leaded. Is that OK?
