But then I do not see this in any modern builds. Re...

Re: Machining cone baffle, help requested.
1 op is the way to do it. Internal first, then external. I'm not a machinist but that's the way I envisioned doing it. What would be the advantage of doing it the other way (outside first)? Because of the work not being able to pass through the spindle on your lathe? How ya going to machine out the...

A "report" is mostly defined as a loud noise as from an explosion.
Of course, the ATF hasn't had it's hand in defining the word yet that I know of.

Re: Revisiting suppresser on a revolver question
I always think it's weird when people bring up the old "suppressed revolver" question, and then argue against the inevitable avalanche of so-called nay-sayers. I find this humorous since revolver enthusiasts worry about things like flame-cutting, or incorrectly bracing a revolver so that ...

Looks like your etching turned out good. But my thinking it without adhesive backing the salt water would get under the stencil and possibly etch where not wanted. But I may think to much.

mr fixit,
Does the stencil material you used have an adhesive backing?
The vinyl sticker I had made parts of some letters came up during the process.

Re: DIY Electro-etcher
I did a test etch, Had a vinyl sticker made, put it on a piece of tube(same material as the to be suppressor). Used a 12 volt battery. Kept it on each line for about 4 minutes. Could here the sound of bacon frying, barely. The type looked dark but couldn't tell if it was deep enough. Stopped the tes...

Re: DIY Electro-etcher
I electro-etch as well. I just use a spare car battery for a power supply; dead simple and puts out plenty of power. For the etcher, I used a strip of 1" felt folded over a piece of copper, soldered to a wire. I use salt water, works great. Stencils can be made by printing a negative image on ...

Re: Ready to etch the identifaction and ser# on the tube, questions
Also, if you have a "Model" designation on your form, that needs to be on the silencer. I mention this only because my last batch of Form 1s I had ONE kicked back as "needing" a model designation. First and ONLY time that has ever happened. I didn't argue the point, I just fille...

Re: What is the effect of making a can longer?
It's all about temperature of the gas when it exits. It doesn't matter if it is longer necessarily. Properly worked gas will stay in the can longer and become cooler. This is why it pays to have a good design so you save weight, save length and increase your grin size. The diminishing returns is wh...

Would a disk or washer with holes similar to the one Gunny50 posted be quieter on this design, http://www.silencertalk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=135169 ? Also a multiple ports with rearward slits make this design, http://www.silencertalk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=134954 quieter? I'...
