Re: Completed titanium .308 caliber build

If you cast very much look into getting a PID, it makes temp control a piece of cake.
I run 2 20lb pots at a time, one heating up after refilling while casting from the other.
I seldom have any waiting time for pots to get up to temp unless casting big boolits where the pots empty purdy fast.

I'M A BIT COMPUTER ILLERATE

I have been printing pictures for my suppressor notebook but the text prints a lite gray and is very difficult to read.
Is there something I can do to make the copied text darker for my old eyes? :?:

Beings it is made of 17-4 Stainless Steel, 300 Stainless Steel, Stellite I'd use the (dip)
50% white vinegar, 50% hydrogen peroxide soak over night in a ventilated area, wash with water and blow out with compressed air.
If it's really dirty I've repeated this up to 3 days.

Re: Is .035 416ss to thin wall? for 1" .22 can

If you must cut threads 48tpi recessed about .100" and 3/8 or more long will work.Even screws around the perimeter can be used.Mig tig or silver solder would be much stronger cheaper and easier than cutting these threads. What design, length, host and munitions are planned for this. -CL Mono cor...

Re: Is .035 416ss to thin wall? for 1" .22 can

I'm not too sure what thread pitch you intend to use, but even a 40tpi would leave only 0.013"/side. I generally shave 0.010" from the ID, prior to threading. Just helps the baffles slide in easier. Are you trying to save weight or money? You're not gaining an appreciable amount of intern...

If you are planning to use threads, yes .035" is too thin.
What about welding at mounting end and threading at muzzle?
Monocore would be a stronger design?

Re: Is .035 416ss to thin wall? for 1" .22 can

Researching tube thickness for 1" .22 can Can a .035 416ss tube be threaded and not be a safety issue? Is this to thin wall? Thanks Yes it can be done with a fine pitch thread w/ special construction techniques to handle pressure. I would use it for monocore construction without threads to all...

I find a .22LR does just fine and suppresses very well. Especially if they are inbound at the coyote at 800 rounds per minute.

Re: Form-1 50 BMG suppressor

This is going on a target rifle that won't be lugged around in the field, so I do appreciate the feed back on weight, but weight is not much of a concern for this build. A few threads I have seen in other places on recoil from 50 BMGs with suppressors vs. with muzzle breaks is that the suppressor n...

I have yet to use carbide on 416 in over 30 years of shop time.A 10% cobalt HSS or T-15 with coolent is all that is needed.CMV did a excellent home made coolent system thread that would be a great addition to your shop with either ground tools or carbide. If you wish to play a bit check out AR.Warne...
