I don't know whether you know anybody who owns gun stores, but the ATF showing up isn't exactly unusual.

Re: The ban list is out
The list comes from a piece of failed legislation that dates from 2007. It has been quoted and re-quoted on websites and in the news pretty regularly ever since then.

Re: BATFE raid CT FFL where Bushmaster was purchased.
Am I the only person who read the story? On Saturday, a South Windsor man — who had received a suspended prison sentence and two years probation in May on charges of stealing a dozen rifles and shotguns from Riverview Sales — tried to steal a sniper rifle from the same store, police said. Jordan Mar...

Re: What to expect from any upcoming ban
The powers to be have taken note of the recent "shelf clearing", and will discuss this during their coming pow-wow. Without the working class to foot the bill for their growing number of dependant constituents, they are without a paddle. I firmly believe they will be drawing a fine line b...

Re: What to expect from any upcoming ban
as long as no other restrictions are in place I just don't see how there is a problem with requiring anyone who buys a gun to pass a background check. Many of my friends and I buy and sell guns to each other all the time. This sounds like a giant pain in the ass to me. And like all such laws, does ...

The amount is largely insignificant in GDP terms. Depending on whose numbers you use, the 2011 GDP was somewhere in the range of $14 trillion to $15 trillion. The Professional Gun Retailers Assoc says the annual firearms industry average has remained flat for the past 20+ years at about $3.5 billion...

Re: Cerberus to sell Freedom Group after school shootings
Interesting...I believe they aren't even sure if the Bushmaster fired a shot in Conn. Yes the Bushy was used to shoot out the glass on the front doors of the school, but wasn't used on any humans. This was on the nightly news so don't have a verifiable source. I got a laugh (a bitter laugh, natural...

Signed, though I fear the anti-gunners have a better chance of pulling a lot of tech-savvy votes. But I'll share it around, it can't hurt to try.

Re: Executive Order, Worst Case Senario
I have been discussing this issue on another forum. It was suggested that Obama could possibly use a national security statute to write an executive order to control firearms or ban them. That is an angle I had not thought of before as I thought any EO would reference the CGA of 1968 or the NFA of ...

Re: Executive Order, Worst Case Senario
I was watching the news the day the school shooting went down. There was a Congressman and a Brady Campaign member being interviewed. They blamed the NRA for failure to pass any gun control laws that might have prevented the shooting. It is obvious to me that they are cowards for pointing the finge...

There are about ~26K high schools and ~88k elementary schools. So thats ~114K x $ for security training, security officers, or physical security. This is a very complex and expensive issue to solve. The more important number is that fifty million children go to school and return home safely every s...

I open carried for a couple years. In my opinion it draws undue attention from both the positive and the negative. Open carry is ultimately a show of force, and showing your hand. You spotlight yourself as a high value target when a determined criminal is in your vicinity. Because you are "tha...

Re: Another gun poll to hit:
Thanks folks, I know that if we win this poll it most likely will go unreported. That's OK though. Press today use polls to drive opinion, not report it. If we win, then that is one less tool they have to drive opinion against us. If we win, it will just be reported as "divided opinion" o...
