What lot numbers should I look for on the new batch? If I can get some I'll retest, though I doubt there will be much change.RJT wrote:Before hanging CCI out to dry on these, perhaps a box of the new "model" needs to be used. If you are testing ammo that is 3 months old, they're not the same.

Re: Water makes it louder?
What meter and mic where you using? He won't answer that so obviously we are dealing with Kletus the Silencer Kid's Mk. 1 ears, hopefully calibrated. There's a big difference between "sounds louder to me" and "is louder". Since the 'understanding of physics' has been talked abou...

That core looks a lot like something in my sketchbook, although I was planning for use in a .22 can. I'd love to know how it sounds.

Re: New CCI Quiet-22 LR - 710 fps
According to my testing, from a 16" barrel, the CCI Quiet metered 125 DB at the shooters ear. With a 26" barrel (didn't test from 24") that number was down to 114 DB Dry firing the gun was 111 DB. Dry firing on an fired shell was 109 DB. All are 8 shot averages. I didn't keep the note...

Re: NFA question
I created a trust because in Florida no CLEO will sign off. I was going to wait till I went to Arkansas but found out the CLEO there will also not sign off. So I got the trust and have applied eform 1 SBR form 4 Osprey 45 and specwar 556 before the new law goes into affect or what is presumed to be...

Re: patents/US6575266: Snorkel Chamber Suppressor Design 2003
I've got a sionics can with screw baffles. I wouldn't call it a step forward at this point. I suspect with the snorkel design, an adjustable snorkel depth could prove interesting, and provide some level of tuneability for different pressures presented at the muzzle. I could especially see the design...

Re: Greetings! Gummy ammunition - will it be a negative or positive?
Welcome to the forum. This place is a little different than a lot of gun forums, and a thicker skin is required to survive. The Axiom is a nice can. I ended up getting one myself after shooting a demo. After we put 1k+ rounds through the demo at 900-1100 RPM, it still came apart easily and was as qu...

This is my favorite part:
"The NRA and gun industry view accessories like silencers as potential profit areas, with guns themselves so well-saturated throughout their existing customer base."
Because that's indicated by the reduction in gun sales, right?

Re: Multi caliber SBR questions
Now, on the receiver, is it ok to have "multi" on it? So manny makers do that and I would think that the "multi" would cover the various configurations including different calibers? As long as the barrel is marked with the caliber in a 'conspicuous' manner, then there's no need ...

Re: SBR-ing an AR: Any Difference Between "Pistol" and "Rifle" Lower?
If it's configured as a pistol (by ATF designations) then it's a pistol, just as when it has a 16 upper, it's a rifle. An AR pistol with a 16" upper is still a pistol. Actually, it may simply be a firearm depending on overall length. All rifles and pistols are firearms, not all firearms are ri...

I'm very happy with the S&W 422 as a host. it regularly meters about 2db quieter with the same cans and ammo as a buck mark pistol.

Ugly, ineffective, and overpriced, My favorite combination.
Buy that, or pony up an extra $500 and have an entry level machine-gun. Guess which will be worth more in 2 years?

Re: Revisiting suppresser on a revolver question
The "suppressed" revolvers used by the "tunnel-rats in Vietnam were actually a very special design where the cartridge itself was the suppressed part! (I hear whispers of "What" .. "how" "no way" .. 8) ) It was called the QSPR .. This is how: The cartrid...

YHM was making a "Maxim woodsman" at one point a few years ago. I don't think they're still in production. they made a 45 version as well, but the reviews weren't very good on either.
They are available occasionally on gun broker etc.

Dunno
The lower end models wouldn't likely be any better than a radio shack meter.
I wish they gave actual specs of the QPR meter, like rise time and distortion at peak etc.

Re: Revisiting suppresser on a revolver question
For me the question isn't "Will it work well?" the obvious answer to that is No. But rather, my question is about how well it works. The fascination and desire to understand comes from the knowledge that at one point in US history, suppressed revolvers where issued to vietnam 'tunnel rats'...

I'm unclear how mortars are classed as DD when breech-loading 8" steel pipes firing cannonballs are allowed? Is it just those Commercially made? We frequently fire pyrotechnic mortars on July 4th and they are legally sold in many states. TX, KS, MO, AR. They fire 3"OD cardboard casings us...
