Re: suppressors now legal in Vermont
I have to wonder what on earth they expect to happen if it sunsets. Is there any sort of grandfather clause or do legal suppressors just magically become contraband overnight?

Re: I need some new hosts!
I ordered a Swanson barrel for cheap but couldn't trust it ( sloppy fit, crude, iffy threading to bore) I am very happy with my $200 threaded storm lake and Octane, the semi fit barrel is tight and very accurate. The finish on the Swenson is crude, no doubt. I've not shot it on paper, but 8" p...

Re: I need some new hosts!
FYI: I didn't find any added value in the $300 threaded 1911 barrels. After much fussing with different options, I ended up with an ATI 1911 and a $60 Swenson barrel in it as my 1911 host. I still have my Colts and Paras, but they have been safe queens for the last two years and no longer get used. ...

Re: Getting the sheriff to sign?
He's referring to ATF rule 41P which is still pending and hasn't gone into effect, and also has congressional legislation to directly prohibit its enactment in HR 2578 (the "must pass" 2016 DOJ/NASA/DEA funding bill). In other words, 41p is pretty much dead and a likely to be a "never...

Re: House puts pro-gun amendments in must-pass DOJ funding bill
I'm actually surprised the ITAR thing hasn't popped up on here elsewhere already. I'd have figured that since much of this website is dedicated to open discussion of "soon to be ITAR protected" data it would have been a bit of a hot button...

Re: House puts pro-gun amendments in must-pass DOJ funding bill
Considering how many amendments cut funds from DOJ and BATFE (and DEA as well, actually) I find it somewhat amusing that it's referred to as a "funding" bill. Hopefully this is as "must pass" as the ACA and it gets signed in to law without too much reading by the Anti's. For the ...

Re: what goes into the NFA background check?
Just curious....What do they look at/into when doing a NFA background check that would be different from the NCIC check when you buy a Remchester Model 110 at Wally World? I do criminal backgrounds as part of my job. Just wondering what super secret data they have that takes so long to do. From wha...

Re: Making an AR15 quieter, the weapon not the suppressor
I finally got the proper tungsten weights late last week. I need to source a urethane "plug" to go in the end of the SS buffer and then I'll give it a whirl (the ledloy buffer is off for testing with my associate with the RDIAS).

Re: Griffen reece 7 vs Thunder Beast Ultra 9CB
I've got a recently-received 30P1, and I have to say it's downright impressive. It is QUIET, even with 175gr SMK's cooking along at ~2750fps in a .308. Recoil drops to barely notable levels -- it rather reminded me of a .22lr bolt gun. 168gr FGMM ammo went from 1.8" groups to .4" groups at...

Re: Coyote Problem
For 50+ yard shots on a moving target, a handgun wouldn't be my first choice. I'd want something with a longer sight radius and more points of contact/stability. If wanting to stay pistol-caliber, then a 9mm AR with 147's or such, perhaps. With a hasty sling, that would be a VERY devastating setup i...

Re: Coyote Problem
I personally haven't found much value in taller sights on my suppressed handguns. From my experience, they are FAR more prone to catching on stuff (especially without the can on the gun), and they still aren't tall enough to actually see around the can so you end up sighting "through" the ...

Re: Court overturns 'may issue' in DC, strong precedent?
Good article in the NY Post today, questioning whether the DC decision by Judge Scullin above may affect New York City's similar laws requiring a "good reason" to get a CCW permit in NYC. (be rich or friends with the police commish or mayor is about the only good reason observed in practi...

That and answering the questions asked could be considered practicing law, which is illegal unless you are a lawyer. No one has asked the original poster to fill out any documents, no one has drafted anything, we have all done nothing but done anything but give advice. I do not see how merely advis...

Re: Coyote Problem
With .45 being "natively" subsonic and reliably cycling the slide, I think it's a reasonable choice over a .22 -- especially when you consider that .45 ammo is "trivial" to get a hold of and .22 (let alone subsonic, especially subsonic that will cycle a semi) for the most part is...

Re: Court overturns 'may issue' in DC, strong precedent?
I think this just sets it up so that SCOTUS is going to be much more likely to take up this sort of case (which they've been refusing to do for a while) as it seems to me that lower courts with opposing rulings couldn't be let to stand. If they were left in such a state, one part of the country will...

A quick check of NFA tracker shows ALL form types for ALL filing types for ALL entity types are now hitting around the 90-105 day mark for approvals.
That's good news for the individuals with paper forms, but bad news for trusts with eforms.
Win some, lose some; right?
