Re: trustees possessing nfa items

Trust's don't have addresses. It doesn't matter where the trust was setup. you can have trustees in other states and it wouldn't matter. The form is filled out with the trust name and the address of the trustee who has primary access. "Maker. (1) If the maker is an individual, the entire form s...

Re: Rem 870 sbs barrel legallity

so if I keep the barrel away from the gun, like in a family member's safe that I don't have the combo to, then it would technically be fine, right If you plan to have the barrel cut before the F1 is approved, this is the way to do it. Provided they don't own an 870 This is correct The case law behi...

Re: So who's filing for new Form 1 or Form 4 before Obama kills off NFA on trusts?

There are no "certification" requirements for fingerprints. Any one can roll your prints, including yourself. You can pick up an ink pad for printing from amazon or ebay. You don't want the stamp kind, you want to make sure it has the heavier ink and is made for fingerprints. All the direc...

Re: SBS / AOW Form 1 dimensions

your OAL and barrel length are whatever your final dimensions will be. A SBS doesn't require a stock to be a SBS, so even in AOW configuration it is still a SBS. You could fill out the form 1 with either of the OAL dimensions you listed if you cut barrels first, but if it were me I'd want the paperw...

Re: 308 design critique

You can't have 2 endcaps (ie an extra as only 1 is used at a time) but you can have 1 endcap with 2 different adapters that thread into it.

Like a multimount. One adapter can be for direct thread, and one can be for threading onto a break.

Re: 308 muzzle brake ?

Depending on how you can set it up will decide how tight you can go , I'd dialed barrels in off the ID of the bore and bored the brake to only .020" over bullet diameter and progressively reamed it at the range to see if the tighter bore showed any benefit in recoil reduction (it didn't). Id s...

Re: 308 muzzle brake ?

It's concentric within the tolerances of my equipment and testing/measuring devices. If I had to put a number on it within .005 probably closer but I don't have the equipment to test. I am confident the pill will clear the hole without any chance of physical contact, I just wasn't sure if I needed t...

308 muzzle brake ?

Is .335+.005 too tight for the through bore for a 308 win muzzle brake? I'm going to bore my baffles and end cap to .360+.005 My can is going on a FN SPR and it will be thread on 5/8x24 The barrel side end cap is going to have a built in muzzle brake to help with erosion, but being a bolt gun it's n...

Re: Suggestions for a table top Lathe and Welder?

Personally I'd look to auction houses for a used lathe. Most of the bench tops aren't very good, and the ones that are aren't cheap. For reference I got my 14" engine lathe for $900 and it came with a 8" four jaw. I've put much more into it with tooling, but if you can find a decent lathe ...

What kind of 9mm are you going to hang a 1.5"x10" SS monocore can on? Probably pointless to worry about altering the design to accomadate that

Paintball guns aren't regulated either, but for years the BATFE said NO to adding suppressors to them. With all the crap that was tried to get passed and failed I have no idea how the pelet gun industry got approved. I haven't been in the game for quite some time so I don't know if they ever got an ...

Re: O ring in closely fitted monocore 22LR can?

I see them go in the $500-800 range all the time at auction around here. Of course they are smaller tables without power feed or dros, but still a much better option than the store bought "cheap mill"

Re: a few questions??

Way too many baffles. Aside from that it looks basically like a Spectre1. Are you suggesting shorter overall length, or less baffles with more space between them? Why don't you just copy the Spectre? The baffle size, spacing etc work, thats why SWR uses it! ;) You are reinventing the wheel like a m...

Well after a lot of reading it seems the most admired among the 17 hmr guys is the popularity with the Spectre and the omega baffle. So my next attempt was with omega baffles. Any tips or suggestions here?

I'm assuming that you are in a country that does not require "papers" for your build. I'd try looking through this thread first: http://www.silencertalk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=79895 Lots of good designs there, and some are integrals. No He's in MI he'll need papers for the sup...

you could design it like a thread on and then drill and pin to perm attach to get the 16+" overall length

there are ultrasonic cleaning solutions that are aluminum safe, but I have also read that they are hard on finishes as well. Great reports on cleaning up the internals if they are removable though.

Ok some background. I am not a machinist and only fool around in my spare time as a hobbiest. That said I do have a bridgeport and an engine lathe and a fair amount of experience on both. I told myself that when I got to a point where I could finish an AR15 0% forging and thread a barrel, that I wou...

Re: AR SBR in 9mm

Personally I like a 5" barrel. 9mm was designed as a pistol round and the added length does not give much more of an advatage to range. However it does adversely affect subsonic. And we are talking suppressed so subsonic is more important than an extra couple yds of range. And you can shoot a 5...
