It can't be both coaxial and eccentric, or am I missing something?

Re: So what is tightest you go with a bore ?
For what is's worth (I've only done one can and I threaded the barrel myself): Tighter than 0.250" was bad for accuracy, hits were all over the place. I went up to 0.250 and everything's fine now. I started out at 5.98mm, yes, I'm an animal! YMMV I might try 6.1mm the next time, just to s...

Re: Suppressor alignment on SCAR 17 Heavy
The Scar 17 barrel doesn't have a shoulder to thread on to. It's neccesary to have the barrel nut screwed on tight in order to rest your can on it. I tried to install a can without the nut, luckily I learned on fnforum.net that's not something you should do. I couldn't get the SureFire brake to fit ...

Re: Critique my 22LR design
I just finished my first can, a .22 can that I overengineered so that I can use it on a AR-15 eventually. I made the exit hole 1/4". It works great on my 10/22, would that be pushing my luck with the 5.56? Bendersquint, I followed your suggestion on wall thickness, it's over 0.065 inches thick,...

Re: Quick change toolholder giveaway
WhisperFan: The OOPS is all mine, I didn't doublecheck the pictures, I think MSC is kind of known for posting any kind of picture to illustrate their products, they sure did this time. The toolholders are indeed 250-201 and 250-202. Thanks for letting me know, I'm very happy we found out now and I'm...

Ok, time is up and we have a winner. It was really close between delta9mda and WhisperFan, both are outstanding contributors to SilencerTalk. In the end I'll have to go with WhisperFan, here are some of his posts: Making K-Baffles http://www.silencertalk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=17116 50 C...

Re: Silencer for Black powder revolvers/carabines
Be that as it may I still believe the U.S.A to be the greatest country in the world. Maybe it's not as free as it used to be but it still is the home of the brave! I wouldn'd be surprised at all if the suppressor laws would soon become more relaxed, there's not many crimes commited with silecers as ...

Re: Silencer for Black powder revolvers/carabines
Well, I am swedish and even though it's easier for us to get silencers than it is for you I still envy you. Silencers might be the only thing that's easier to get. We still have to apply for a suppressor license but it's easy to do if you have the proper gun licenses. Those on the other hand are a b...

Re: Quick change toolholder giveaway
Ok, this is looking good, I got two more participants through PM, I just feel the need to clarify the following: There's only one winner. He gets the three toolholders. Since shipping is twenty bucks it's not much of an incentive to give away three toolholders and charge a total of $60 bucks for shi...

Re: How important are baffle angles?
I always read that 60 degrees is the optimal baffle angle. Are those 60º measured from the line of the bore or is it 60º perpendicular to the bore? Thanks for clarifying!

Quick change toolholder giveaway
I have three brand new quick change toolholders that I have no use for since I ordered the wrong size about a year ago and never got around to returning them. I got them through MSC and paid $115 for all three, they're Phase II brand, I got two of this one: http://www1.mscdirect.com/CGI/NNSRIT2?PMAK...

Re: Anybody see a 30 cal can that was 1.000id?
The SureFire Micro must be the smallest can I've seen and it's O.D. is 1.5" according to their site. It looked smaller in the pictures though, I was surprised, I would have guesstimated one inch or slighty more.

Is that a reflex type suppressor or is it a really short barrel? It looks awesome to me but I've always liked the concept of reflex cans.

Re: Lathe thread cutting tools, how many do I need?
I did the threading under power, I found a nice chart for the passes somewhere here on the forum, I made a total of 5 passes, as follows: 1st pass: 0.007" 2nd pass: 0.006" 3rd pass: 0.004" 4th pass: 0.004" 5th pass: 0.005" Total depth: 0.024" I was cutting at 25 RPM, th...

Re: Lathe thread cutting tools, how many do I need?
Excellent post mg81, thanks! It seems that I'm bound to go in that direction as I get better at this. I was thinking of buying a boring bar but now I might just make it myself. I like the idea of hollowing out some stock to get the exact thickness I need for my cans and it sure would be nice to make...

Re: Lathe thread cutting tools, how many do I need?
Update: Threads are done! After taking the time to go through thirty pages of "thread"+"cutting" here I read up enough on the subject to get a basic understanding of internal thread turning. It's a blast when it turns out ok! My biggest mistakes was probably not having enough inf...

Re: Lathe thread cutting tools, how many do I need?
I chalk it up to being a noob at this, I searched for "threading" and found a few things I forgot about, one is a relief cut at the innermost part of my thread, the other is to have the insert just above the center, and I broke one tip with plain old stupidity  I'll give it a rest for...

I got my tools!!
Just a short update: I turned my first external threads yesterday, I started with a 1/2"*28 tpi, it turned out beautifully, just as I hoped. Today I wanted to try doing an internal thread, same pitch, but that was a whole different story. Man, it sure is hard when I can't see the thread! I'll t...
