Re: Get a 5.56 can or 7.62 can?

A 762 can should be your first can. Once you start shooting suppressed you'll want to shoot everything suppressed. A 762 can allows you to shoot every caliber below it with little to no noise increase without having to wait to get a bigger can. I've been told the sound difference isn't even perceiva...

Re: 9mm Silencer Recommendation Request

Its been a while since I saw the third party testing, but I think the Tirant averaged about 1-2 DB quieter. However, unless your ears are better than mine I doubt you'll be able to the difference between them. I know I can't tell the difference between my Tirant 9 & Octane 45 shooting 9mm on the...

Re: Looking for 338 can

They may not be as sexy as the new Ultra 338, but the older TBAC 338P-1 or BA would be a decent can for your purposes. Its available now instead of waiting a month or two for dealers to get the new Ultras in.

Re: 7.62 Suppressor Question

Since you asked about the Mystic X, do you want the can to do double duty of pistol and rifle rounds? To my knowledge the Mystic X is the only can currently on the market that can handle both rifle and pistol rounds, but it is limited to 9mm or less for pistols and 300 blk/762x39/6.8 SPC/6.5 Grendel...

Re: .357 in a 9mm Can

Personally I don't see why it wouldn't handle it. I wouldn't worry about the volume of gas, the MK9K is a pretty huge can. And we're not dealing with all that much more propellant. Yes you have about double the amount of propellant (though often not quite that much more), but you also have double t...

Re: Stuck Between 3 Silencers

For a bolt gun, I'd go for a large titanium can because it will offer the maximum suppression in the lightest possible package. So I'd get the 300-TM from those choices. It's lighter than cyclone and has more volume and tougher than the Omega. I'm still not completely sold on Omega. It's advertised ...

Re: Specwar or Saker

I bought the Saker after seeing all the specs and such but now it seems all the support and newer items coming out are for Specwar mounting systems. I like the way the Saker mounts, it seems easier because you grab the whole can, not some little locking ring to mount/dismount it. Its easier for me ...

Re: Free Silencerco Suppressor Pouche promotion

If you have any decent mechanical skills, and a YouTube connection, you can build one. If you want to shoot it for precision, I'd get the upper built by a pro, as head-spacing the bolt, etc can be an issue. But if you're fine with decent (1" accuracy), and you want to save a few hundred dollar...

9 or 45 Tirant? Bolt or semi-auto? 16" or SBR? This question has been asked several times in this form and others, I suggest you read up on them to know what you're getting into. I asked AAC this the question directly and while they didn't say no, I got the impression that they highly discourag...

might grab another in 223 and convert it to 300AAC Joker, look at their Ranch line, they have one in 300 blk with a threaded 16" barrel. I believe the Ranch and Predator are the same gun, the only difference between the two is the stock color and barrel length. My folks have one of those Ranch...

Not too impressed with ultrasonic cleaner, advice?

I just bought a Hornady Hot Tub thinking that it would help make cleaning a lot of my pistols faster and easier than the conventional way. I learned the hard way that this is simply not true. I fell victim to the pictures thinking the tank was bigger than it actually is; however, I can't fit as many...

Cleaning hard suppressor buildup on muzzle

On my 24" 308 bolt gun I'm starting to have some pretty hard carbon build-up on the muzzle that is very difficult to clean. It reminds me of the carbon build up you get on a QD mount after shooting it suppressed. I'm using a direct thread TBAC 30P-1, shooting my 175 SMK hand loads with 39.9 gr ...

Re: Which AAC Brake on SRS .308 barrel for SDN-6?

Not sure what you're asking. the 51T 762 brake is the only one from AAC that will work with your can. If you're wanting to know the thread pitch, the manufacturer should list it on their page or you can ask Desert Tech directly through email or phone. My 2 cents, I'd get a 51T flash hider since it's...

I'm seeing a lot of bad mouthing of AAC. Guys I think you are all getting a little carried away. reason for commercial cans to be same outside diameter?

With the exception of 22lr cans, I've notice that nearly all rifle cans regardless of manufacture, purpose, caliber, or attachment method are 1.5" outside diameter. Is there a reason for this? I understand why they wouldn't make them smaller, but I figure some would be greater than 1.5 inches. ...

Re: Big bore AR: 50 beowulf, 458 socom, or 450 bushmaster?

I've heard the 458 socom uses standard unmodified AR-15 magazines without any problems, but 50 Beowulf needs the feed lips to be bent outward a little to ensure reliable feeding. Something to consider since the industry is moving towards polymer mags that can't be bent.

Are Piston semi-autos hearing safe at ear?

Guys, I know AR-15s in 556 are not hearing safe at the shooter's ear because of the noise coming from the ejection port. Is the noise coming from the gas being expelled from the gas tube or is it coming from the chamber? Assuming the majority of the port noise is from the gas tube, would a piston dr...

I've only slow fired mine on my SPR gun and haven't seen any noticeable finish wear, but I've shot my SDN-6 and Mini-4 through some pretty fast strings and they don't show any signs of finish burning off. The finish should last unless you are making the can glow from heat. If that much has burned of...

People with more experience than me can probably answer better, but here is what I've learn over the past year: SiCo Omega or other center fire cans - really never as long as you shoot full power rifle rounds. Get which ever one is in stock at your local dealer, unless you plan to shoot lead or 22lr through it. If you are then definitely get the octane. The Tirant is lighter and consistently performs 2-3 db quieter than the Octane 9 in head-to-head meter testing. ill take the sealed baffle stack and SS o...
