Re: Pier 1 Imports: Self-Defense Vase

Why not a self-defense hammer? A 2.5-pound 'mini-sledge' is about as ideal as you can find in a short wind-up melee weapon. It doesn't require much pull-back to get a solid hit, nor can it be easily blocked due to its inertia.

Re: Shooting Congress-members

The police find a list of names in the man's vehicle of GOP Congressional representatives. They can find that list, but not a motive. It's curious. Me personally, I think the whole set of laws dealing with 'hate crime' should go away since a murder is pretty much by definition an act of hatred. It's...

Shooting Congress-members

Parts of the story are routine, others are weird, but the most baffling thing of all is the part where the FBI are still looking for a motive. They did that same thing with the "Pulse Club" shooting in Orlando. It's probably the same reason they just eventually chalked-up Major Nidal Hassa...

That has kind of a nice ring to it, no? o(*_*)o I gained a little bit of humor out of repeating a statement in a text format. It made the redundancy redunda...

http://www.silencertalk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=79839 It isn't the same firearm, of course, but the action is also a simple blow-back design. I found it to be surprisingly accurate just as you found your Hi-Point to be. I didn't fool around with the springs on it, but I don't think its design mad...

Re: Michale Slager pleads gulity in federal court

It was either a 'clean shoot' or a 'bad shoot'. In this case, it's agreed by all parties that it was a 'bad shoot'. I'm fine with that, because I, too, believe it was an unwarranted use of deadly force. ... but Hell's bells... why the race-angle? There's no evidence to support it other than the circ...

Re: Canning a Hi Point 9 mm Carbine

Thanks for the reply. So, running one "forever" on that gun, as I likely would, it'd require sub-sonic 147's and then fiddling with higher strength springs and spring preloads to suit. Okay, I'll get a man on it right away. o(*_*)o I don't know enough about that particular platform, but a...

Re: Canning a Hi Point 9 mm Carbine

Does anyone know if one can effectively suppress a Hi Point 9 mm carbine? I don't know what "effectively" means. You can put a silencer on one, and it will be notably quieter. Will it achieve "hearing safe"? That depends on what ammunition you use, what silencer you use, and wha...

Whether or not those changes has large social implications is one thing - due largely to a silent media - but the political ramifications will be felt. Those who rely on coal-industry feel those changes, and know where they're originating from. Do you believe they'll be more or less likely to vote &...

Re: Fed Judge rules against KS 2A Protection Act--silencers made in KS

My complaint on the rationale that the existence of it anywhere affects the existence of all others elsewhere is that it doesn't apply to silencers. Wheat, gasoline, etc. is a 'fungible' commodity; meaning that gasoline is gasoline is gasoline. This is why one-day boycotts against Exxon gas-stations...

... The most baffling part of the story is that the police were called by the DOG'S OWNER, not the guy that got attacked. ... This would have been the most prudent course of action. Apart from that I just feel bad for the dog that it had to belong to such a moron. Prudent, yes, because a crime had ...

whats next, are we supposed to disarm home invaders in hand to hand combat instead of shooting back? First off, don't disparage my super ninja skills. I find that hurtful and upsetting. Secondly, the dog climbed a fence to attack the man. Good shoot. That dog was looking for a fight and got it. Thi...

Re: What if I use an NFA weapon for self defense?

So there's an interesting question raised here. Since distance of engagement is commonly determined by powder stippling evdence, I wonder how a supressor would jack up the results if you were NOT to tell anyone you used one. I assume (dangerous word, I know) that a supressor would drastically reduc...

A different fellow on a different forum had this to say: So I bought an MPX pistol, and the day I brought it home I sent the barrel out to be cut down to 4.5 inches and re-threaded. (I researched this before I committed to the barrel length, and was told that it would not impact function in any way)...

Some parts are still kind of lame, but overall, it's several massive steps in the right direction. Mega-kudos to the state government for turning that into a reality.

I honestly do not care. As far as I know, the 'citizens' of that nation may also leave and enter the US at will. In which case, their freedom is as limited as they're willing to tolerate. That said, I am at least curious to see what comes of it. To clarify, I don't care if my neighbor chooses to put...

making the "weapon" illegal when there's already a law against excessive force won't prevent the crime. I think you're missing the point. Imagine a person properly trained in unarmed combat. Equip him with something equivalent to a brass knuckle without any additional training. Now imagin...

In the case cited, the crazy man was beaten to death with three blows to the head by an officer wearing one of these gloves. Are brass knuckles okay for poli...

What would be the point of a hybrid? Why would someone want to go from a 'conventional' to a bullpup, or vice-versa?
