Re: Can someone run some quickload data for me?
Matt,
Buy it. I recently got QuickLoad and it's well worth the coin. It's like having a scientific calculator with 65 functions and you'll only use 4 or 5. Not every powder or bullet is in there and it's written by Germans, but it's very good stuff.

Re: Tikka 3+1, .308, having barrel threaded
The stainless T3 Lite? This summer I bought that very same rifle, even left handed. Get it, you will not regret it. As a sub-$800 sporter weight hunting rig, I don't think anything else even touches it. I will own more Tikka rifles. Replace the recoil pad with one from Tikka Performance and get the ...

Re: suppressor and muzzle brake on same gun
Any brake is going to be more effective at reducing recoil without the can on it. Yes, it's louder without the can, as it redirects gasses to the side. It still does work somewhat the same way when inside the suppressor, although it's now considerably choked off. The main purpose of using a brake in...

That sounds like a nice stick, I really like Weatherby actions.

Re: suppressor and muzzle brake on same gun
In most cases, the brake or flash hider is designed to work with the suppressor and attaches (threads on) to the barrel with threads. It stays on the rifle. The suppressor is designed to mount on the brake/hider with threads or various other methods but will not screw directly onto a threaded barrel...

Mystic on a .38/357 Handi Rifle cut to 16". With 38 wadcutters I could shoot it inside a library full of Nuns and I wouldn't even get a warning. That's what I wanted to hear (or not hear). I'm cutting a Handi-Rifle at 16 as well, but with an AAC TiRant 9. Anyone using heavier than standard for...

Re: LWRC REPR to Les Baer should I switch
Stick tight to what you've got.
I wouldn't be unhappy with the accuracy you are currently getting and switching likely won't improve it enough to make a difference.

Aside note: I can not imagine how pissed JD Jones must be every time he goes online, to a gun store, to the range and sees something about 300blk. I imagine him to be just so jealously grumpy about it. That "success" didn't happen for him. The business model JDJ applied to his pet project...

Re: 510 Whisper
Rob, Cut the barrel. 16.5" would look great on that rifle. The extra tube is simply slowing you down, as you've already figured out. I'd love to experiment with a gain twist barrel as I think it could be the answer to stabilizing long heavy bullets at low speed in a very short tube. Never done ...

Re: 510 Whisper
Nice stick. Congrats on a one-of-a-kind rifle. You've already figured out a bunch on your own. I run 458 SOCOM bolt guns at subsonic-only which is a very similar type deal. Barrels over 12" or so are a waste. Bullets are expensive. Yes, have a mold cut. Worth the trouble to cast 'em yourself. I...

Re: Thoughts on wet tumble anodized parts using non-SS media
Anyone try to wet tumble with plastic (acrylic) abrasive media? http://www.kramerindustriesonline.com/ACR.html I use this stuff in my shop on plastic injection molds made from aluminum to clean them before welding. It won't hurt the aluminum and we use a dedicated chamber just for the acrylic media....

Re: New life for the .22 Hornet
Looks like I might have been on a good track with the FN 5.7 idea, but your Hornet is definitely the ticket. Nice work. Quiet, cheap, easy to load, great brass life, great selection of bullets, ect. Not seeing any down side to your build. The small furry critters in your area are in real trouble. Ye...

And, AAC extended the 'Damn the Man' promotion to the end of the year. How good is that? http://www.advanced-armament.com/Promotions-Rebates_ep_55-1.html Looks like I'll get $200 dollars in AAC credit. Sweet. I need this: http://www.advanced-armament.com/Geissele-2-Stage-G2S-Trigger_p_655.html

Ordered. Got confirmation and the serial number almost immediately. So far, so good. I wonder what the back story is, but I really don't care. The price is so great on this that a newer/better version at retail wouldn't interest me one bit. THX Joe, that's all I needed. Should have called you first!

Re: My TI .308 build
Nice can on a nice stick. Welding Ti isn't the big deal many folks make it out to be. It can go south immediately but it's really all about gas coverage and going slowly to reduce heat build-up. Titanium is one of may favorites to weld actually. Gas coverage is the all important thing - but once you...
