Re: Thompson Machine Zephyr XL (lots of pics)

Thank you for sharing the most enjoyable shots. Your
taste in suppressor is complimented by your humidor
and its contents. I shall make the gratuitous assumption
that your 18 year old ( McCallan scotch that is :) )
is of the same calibre.

Re: Question

Has anyone here tried this product yet? If so, what did you think? Is it worth the money? I saw it at shot show and they "look" nice. I have not heard one being shot yet. http://www.headdownproducts.com/shop/silencers/sbd22.cfm Pretty does not a good suppressor make. If it does not disass...

Re: Lathe question

There is a large group who consider buying an old standard lathe or mill gives a better unit than a Chi-Com job. Nothing cuts like American iron. My good ole Hendey was originally purchased by MIT and then found its way into the NAVY. Not sure where it resided for all of those years but it is in my...

Re: Lathe question

I remembered this post when I ran across "Metal Porn" for a suppressor smith. May I direct you to << http://www.cnccookbook.com/CCHallOfFame.html >>. In particular is an image of a home built milling machine. There is a large group who consider buying an old standard lathe or mill gives a ...

Re: shootersdepot carbon fiber cans -- anyone tried these?

There's a reason why they don't make carbon fibre engines. Yeah, there's more reason than that. It's expensive, it's woven and can unravel, it's not hard, it's non-uniform, it doesn't hold lubricant, etc. I'm trying to think of everything steel and aluminum do, because most of it carbon fiber canno...

Re: Titanium silencer

Somewhere, I read that for every single round launched, the average internal can temp increases approximately 7 degrees. If it's a large volume caliber, I would expect more of a jump than that. After several mag dumps, the numbers start to cumulatively add up if heat dissipation doesn't/can't catch...

Re: Round stuck inside 308 can, what now?!

Oh man, long story short there is a 380acp round stuck inside my phantom 308 can. It’s about right in the middle of the can ,2 baffles away from the back/thread end. We have tried just about everything to get it out, problem is that the fit is so tight that there is no clearance to just "shake...

Re: Round stuck inside 308 can, what now?!

It's not actually stuck in a baffle bore, it's loose in between two baffles like a baby rattle. After five pages I'm fucking STUNNED that people still don't get this obvious and "kinda" pertinent fact! -urban The "obvious" has gotten many folks smoked. "OOPS, you me...

I don’t know if your mini-lathe steady rest is similar to mine, but I modified mine to accept 1.5 inch tubing. I just extended the slots in the fingers a bit. http://i905.photobucket.com/albums/ac254/etorjul/suppressor/DSCN0208.jpg Nice set up. Is it possible for us to see more pictures of the lath...

Update: I just got a call from a forum member who was concerned about how the post might be interpreted.

To allay his fears I said " Don't hassle it, the guys on this site know I said it tongue-in-cheek".

Line went dead. :)

I see your problem, you bought the Mac version. You should have gotten the PC version. That would have cost you about $1,000. :P About a month ago I converted all of our computers to MACs - amen. I'll be taking our PCs out this summer and turning them into swiss cheese with the minigun (and making ...

Re: Threading a tube on 7x12 mini lathe..

Another question concerning threading on the 7x12..would it be possible to chuck a piece of 1.5" to 2" OD round aluminum stock say 6" long on the mini lathe to thread without the use of a steady rest since the steady rest only holds diameters up to 1" ? Is a 6" long piece o...
