You can hunt non-game animals with any legal firearm ( MG, Silencer, etc) in Texas.

You are comparing MILSTD to unweighted.

Here is a real life example of why silencers should be unregulated: [Here we have a neighbor who horse gets spooked, a gun owner who cannot shoot, and a Sheriff Dept. answering one noise complaint a day. Yet the Sheriff will not sign F1/4. How stupid is this? Of course, fireworks are still unregulat...

Yes, they did a segment about it on Shooting Gallery.

I heard their cans at SHOT. I thought they were LOUD. Be interesting to see where they meter.

$1080? They must be on crack.

[ I can offer $50 Evolution-9's to everyone, if they are willing to pay $1,500 when it does -34dB. Those people are on their own. What I know is I am getting an EVO-9 for $50 if it does less than -34 dB, or whatever my local dealer charges me if it does -34 dB or better. Either way I win. I am stok...

I believe that Robert answered your discount question, but... I read it to mean he was stating your claim for a discount for the SRT was too soon, since RS had not recorded those numbers. Where it actually meters out when RS tests it, is yet to be determined. Al Paulson, Joe Gadini, Mark White, and...

Yes, your check was sent, but I would at least like a discount or refund if it is only a -26dB suppressor. I purchased it with the understanding that it did -32dB. Wow. Now I see how these tests are going to help the consumer. What is the discount on the EVO-9, since you claim -34 dB dry, but Rober...

FWIW, I do not buy into the current MIL-STD either (it is a measure of intensity and not loudness), but it is a standard. The major problem I saw with you not using A-weight was you still reported results in dB, so most folks would compare your dB to MFG dB and think they were apples to apples when ...

thanks, just saw it on google search. I see A-weight is synonymous with A contours or A filters. For exact weightings at given frequencies see: http://www.measure.demon.co.uk/Acoustics_Software/a_weight.html good graph of a,b,c filters here: http://hyperphysics.phy-astr.gsu.edu/hbase/sound/acont.html

What is A-weighting

Just looked through 1474D but could not find exact definition of what A-weighting means, or most importantly, what it does and how it affects results.

Can someone explain, or link to document explaining it?

Actually, I saw a trough constructed to act as a sound suppressor. It was in an old Farm & Ranch magazine. Basically it was like a 2x2x6 foot box with baffles and everything. Was not physically connected to the gun or anything, just a chute that you shot through, kind like the tubes you shoot th...

I have three of his cans - Integral Ruger Mark II, Integral Ruger 10/22 and MP5. The 22s are certainly very quiet, and in most cases more quiet than thread cans, and the MP5 can is about the same as a Gemtech Raptor. All opinions based on my ears.

It might not be. You may want to check with your Game Warden, or your Fish and Game laws. In Texas it is OK for non-game animals, but not game animals.

I wasn't aware of an 'Odyssey' suppressor.
Funky looking thing. Instead of a tube with baffles in it, it is more like the baffle, sealed as one unit, and no tube. FFL has one, I will see if I can dig up a picture. Loud though, by today's standards.

You do not need ear protection when using a good supressor. You do if you want to have normal hearing 20 years later. Sustained exposure to sound over 85 dB will cause loss of hearing. Since most 5.56 cans operate over 135 dB, sustained exposure to suppressed 5.56 gunfire is guaranteed to cause a l...

I tend to agree. I test a Warlock and TAC-INC on Ruger Mark IIs last night (two guns, two cans alternating shots from each). And to my ears the Warlock was quieter, but not by a whole lot. So I forgot to mention the TAC65 has a thousand or more rounds through it, and the Warlock was brand new. This...

There was no visible damage but there was a significant amount of carbon/lead. buildup. I bought this can with the intention o...
