Re: Awc titanium 22 lr can

I would check out Brownell for tank solvents that will work on lead.I use Kroil but many others will work including lite turbine oil or a diy ED's Red. You can add a inside eye bolt to hold the coat-hanger to the cap I did not mention to stop evaporation. A drip dry is normally enough ,again flip th...

Re: DeLisle Clone, need some info/knowledge

I would not build a clone. You can build a lookalike but a copy of that carbine would be disappointing. We have learned so much more and improvements can be made. A .44 carbine based upon the Ruger is workable but if heavy projectiles plus supersonic is contemplated you might conciser .458 socom. Th...

Re: Awc titanium 22 lr can

A two foot x two inch pvc tube with a tap on the bottom will work for several years in most cases. Fill the tube with a solvent and suspend the suppressor with a coat-hanger in it. Once a day slosh it up and down and the sediment sludge sinks to the bottom. Just drain the sludge layer from time to t...

Re: Where are all the threaded 1911's???

The number of players and differences in collet systems has been evolving for years and is spread across the industry. A standard 1911 pistol barrel may no longer have the demand requiring custom work for extended length barrels. A barrel having a bulge/bell or ramp followed by a thread adds to the ...

‘Smuzzle’ is the Army’s new hybrid suppressor that reduces sound, recoil and flash. Surprised when a friend told me about this new suppressor ... central core K's sheathed in a tube a distance from suppressor wall so that gasses have two pathetic of egress, through the center K stack while outer ga...

Re: 22 stubby can design question

I don't fully understand that picture. it looks like a normal cone baffle & spacer assembly, and there are two tubes. The baffle stack fits into the smaller tube, this tube fits into the larger tube and end caps encapsulates both tubes. The slots align with the baffle stack that allow high press...

Re: 22 stubby can design question

I have a .45 wet can from AWC. I'm not a fan. It is a mess to shoot and load. Grease goes everywhere! I'd rather do a dry can. What is a folding coaxial design? This is a old design that was built for buzz guns and found to be a excellent design for any firearm. Many company's are now using this.htt...

This isn't my first one. I've made a made 9 other cans that work great. The smallest is 6" on a .22RF and it is super quiet. The longest is 12" on a .308 and it also does a nice job. My rimfire cans are as quiet or better than my AWC and Tibbets cans. I have a very old can with screens an...

Re: 22 stubby can design question

I was assuming the larger volume of the 1" 5/8 tube would be more effective than a skinny tube. It didn't occur to me that higher pressure could mean less sound. When you say ablatives are a good idea, does that mean wipes or water/grease or something else? I have seen far to many builds that ...

Re: 22 stubby can design question

I am making a .22 rf can that has 3" of internal length after mount and endcap. The ID is 1.485. This is a large volume, but short length. I considered making K style baffles, but I need to make them with a 70 to 80 degree cone in order to fit 3 in the given length. Three baffles isn't much. N...

Stainless on a 22? Why? You can get away with aluminum Stainless can be polished bead blasted and brushed and needs no finish. You can harden stainless far beyond the range of even 7075 alloys that need a finish.Volcanic glass priming compound plus the nitric acid makes for a very unfriendly environ...

Re: .22 long barrel and 9mm Pistol

Mono-cores require many basic operations that must be accurately done. Self made ones often do not perform as well as commercial units so a longer suppressor will help as the internal volume will be higher. You can copy a commercial unit or build one of the many successful ones I can recommend. All ...

Re: .22 long barrel and 9mm Pistol

I would strongly recommend building a .22 suppressor first. These are easy to suppress and having success with the first one builds confidence. Optimum material is stainless steel for its resistance to corrosion, other materials will work fine. You can use almost any baffle type but would lean towar...

My 4.5" AR22 will sometimes get Fed Bulk to go super. With my 4" MKii, I never hear them do so. Hey T long time. I can't do as much research as I once did but chambers make a huge difference in velocity. As the ammo itself is so filthily ensuring complete combustion is a consideration in ...

Re: barrel length to keep bulk pack 22 subsonic?

I would start with 6.00" as barrels and chambers very. If you have a chronograph set the velocity @ 900-950fps or for a maximum of less than 1000fps. The suppressor itself can boost the velocity so be aware. A trigger and action job will improve any build. Bedding the "action/barrel" ...

Re: Running a 22lr Wet

I have done studies on wet suppressors and have built several based on that work. A high volume can work against you when ablatives are used. The heat of a small cartridge can only vaporize X amount. This X / volume = Charge Density. The density is less in larger volumes holding X value of charge. Th...
