Re: First trip to the range with my new suppressor and I have some questions!
Good idea. I can borrow a mic from my dad. I take it the cheapo digital caliper I have won't be accurate enough. Honestly, a cheap dial caliper should work fine for what you're doing. Being off by a measurement only detectable by a mic isn't likely to be throwing you off by that far with one load v...

Re: Solvent traps/adapters crackdown
Can we please emplore our staunch Conservative brethren NOT to stay home in the next Presidential election? The big question is whether or not the GOP has learned that running a dirtbag candidate chosen by the party elite is a bad idea yet. With the way the money is lining up behind Bush 3.0, I hav...

SWATH,
Are you doing the melonite process in house or are you outsourcing?
I'm trying to figure out coating/color options for "in the white" parts.

But guys, the corn refiners association spent millions of dollars on TV ads to assure me that "sugar is sugar" and that "[my] body can't tell the difference...". Of course, somehow my body decides to feel awful when I eat lactose, but clearly my body is just confused and doesn't ...

Re: Rare instance of open carry issue, man tries to seize gun
It's the primary reason why I wouldn't open carry even if it was legal where I live. I simply don't believe in making myself a target. Even worse, increased prevalence of O/C could create quite the honey-pot scenario... As an example, a group of folks could easily then coordinate a situation where o...

You make a great point on that with the big three. Its the prefect storm and the people at the NFA are not happy with the new wave that is coming in. They got the it down by like 70k from last year and now their back up again. I have a feeling its like "office space" with the TPS reports....

I'm aware that the block needs to be fitted with the barrel for pinning, however there is a standard spacing/positioning that's typically used. I just see the need to locate and drill tapered holes to install the thing as a barrier to entry, especially for the DIY guy. If you had pre-drilled blocks,...

I'm at 10+ weeks for a SpecWar I've been waiting on to come in from RSR to my dealer. I notice on NFA Tracker that e-filed Form 1's have gone from 30 to 60 days now as well. Anyone know if ATF-NFA has had a staff reduction or such recently? No staff reductions, increase in submittals though. Do you...

Re: "Ghost Guns" & on reality TV show
From what I hear in the news, it must be going spectacularly. Profits for both the police/government and the drug cartels are at all-time highs (no pun intended), If you recognized your own pun but proceeded anyway, then you intended it. And don't apologize for it, because it's good. I have a tende...

Re: What do you guys think of the new WarBlock?
For myself, given the size of the guns in question (4+ feet in length, and 14+ lbs in weight), I'd be ok with as few as 4 or 5 or so of varying configurations -- with commensurate marketing materials and such. I figure I can get away with that few without looking too paltry as it would be effectivel...

From what I've been able to gather, the worst was back during ~2001-2002 during the anthrax scare days. I've been told by a number of folks that they waited upwards of two years for approvals back then!

It seems like the "prevailing wisdom" is that the ruling is going to get kicked to January 2016, or "delayed indefinitely". Personally, I just hope I have all my stamps in to ATF before what ever happens happens (I can hope all I want, I won't have them all back before hand -- I'...

So if two guys are at a shooting range, and guy A has a ND and causes nerve damage to guy B's leg... then 40 years later guy B falls down the stairs (due the nerve damage in his leg from the ND 40 years ago) and dies due to the "complications" (and compounded by old age) is it really reaso...

The biggest reason the pro-2a crowd gets beaten is because we all too often take the "all or nothing" mentality. When you don't play "the game" you come across as a stick in the mud, and it doesn't take long for peoples ears to shut off to what that stick is saying. If you want t...

I've put the gears in motion to set myself up with a table sublet from a local FFL to whom I've referred a TON of business and spent a boatload with myself (as a rule, I don't take items in my FFL inventory for myself, nor do I buy anything intended for myself through my license) -- I just need more...

5/8-24 is appropriate for the Grendel. 1/2-28 would worry me as it would be VERY easy to accidentally screw on a .223/5.56 can and have some problems -- it's even easier to make that goof if your Grendel is in the AR platform like mine is... On top of that, as noted, a .096" wall thickness is r...

Honestly, it's a bit of a laundry list... It's effectively a general fabrication shop: TIG welder, plasma cutter, Bridgeport, two clausing 13x36" lathes, small CNC mill, hydraulic press, band saw, blasting cabinet, etc. I started off doing motorsports fabrication on drag cars (custom frame memb...

I have to wonder how much an extra 2" of barrel length would make to that ring of fire (the Salvo minimum is 10" with a 2.75" shell).

Honestly, AR pistols aren't worth your time. Start w/ the pistol lower so you can buy the barrel, just don't finish it. Put it in the safe and wait for the stamp to come back. Spend your time enjoying your other fun toys :) I personally enjoyed being able to shoot my AR pistol while I was waiting o...

Re: Sarah Brady dead
Frankly, what I find most interesting about the whole article is that 33 years after shooting John Brady, John Hinckley finally became a murderer this past August. I mean, I kind of get it given that Mr. Brady's death was due to "complications" from the shooting, but he lived for 33 years ...
