Re: POI change suppressed v. un-suppressed - Is this normal
Seems like a pretty small and consistent shift at that distance. Seems like a keeper to me. Would love to see photos of the setup. Re: POI change suppressed v. un-suppressed - Is this normal
Good to know, folks - and thanks. I am, overall, VERY happy with this build and really enjoying this can. My bank, on the other hand, will feel significantly less full with this new hobby. When I can, I'l do some bench rest shooting and get this thing really dialed in - but for standing, I'm still p...

POI change suppressed v. un-suppressed - Is this normal?
Took the AR to the indoor range today to sight in the MBUS sights I put on a couple days back. After getting it zeroed I decided to test both my ability and the difference between the point of impact suppressed and regular. The results are a bit odd. I fired a total of 10 shots on this test - 5 Norm...

Re: Talking to a lawyer tomorrow for an NFA trust
Fair point.
But seeing as I am not familiar with the trust issue (even after speaking with the lawyer today) - why the engraving?

.22lr in battery slide lock?
Other than the S&W Hushpuppy from the Vietnam era, what other suppressed .22lr pistols have the capability of having the slide locked so as to ensure it does not cycle another round or cause action noise? And: Is there a standard modification that can be installed on the Ruger MK III which would...

Talking to a lawyer tomorrow for an NFA trust
Tomorrow, I am talking to an attorney about setting up an NFA trust. Currently, I only have 2 NFA items but I am going to be adding quite a few more. Is there anything specific I need to watch out for in the creation of the NFA Trust? I live in WV - the attorney specializes in NFA Trusts and is on t...

Re: With following guns, if you owned them - what to suppres
Ruger Mark III (Using the Phantom 5.56 on it at times now) Isn't the phantom sealed? Don't do this. This isn't a dedicated suppressor for the Mark III - it's a novelty that I occasionally shoot to demo. It is a non-user serviceable can but with a combination of the LSD treatment (Lemi Shine + Dawn)...

Re: Specific can for an FN FAL L1-A1?
The L1A1 is going to have left handed threads. IF you keep those you'll need to make sure they are really concentric to the bore (most likely they are not). Were I you I'd seriously consider cutting off the original threads and re-thread for a more conventional mounting system. Good advice. I have ...

I said I wasn't a machinist.
And my background isn't in manufacturing.
And I've only seen 3 episodes.

Re: Oh No! They Are Back Again!
Why the RJ hate? I've only ever caught a few episodes and I'm not a machinist, but they seemed to do decent work. I'm sure there is some drama thrown in for ratings and such - but the fact they have military contracts should lend credence to their skill. Again, I've not watched many episodes - maybe...

With following guns, if you owned them - what to suppress?
I already have the AR-15 in 5.56 suppressed with a Phantom 5.56 QD - this is my first suppressed and the reason I want more. Dammit. I know that there are a lot of suppressors that work with multi-calibers - and I'm already using the 5.56 can on the MKIII Occasionally. Everything I have listed above...

Re: Specific can for an FN FAL L1-A1?
This is exactly my concern. I don't know much about cans other than generalities - but I know enough to understand that a can that performs well on gun "a" may perform terrible on gun "b." That is why I'm posting the question here, in the hopes that someone or a group of someones...

Specific can for an FN FAL L1-A1?
After getting the can for my AR and popping my cherry with that, I now want my second one (for the long guns) to be for my L1-A1. I know that I could spend a month researching on my own, but the wisdom here is immense and I'll trust your judgement better than mine. The L1-A1 is an inch setup...not t...

Re: Tracers through a suppressor?
After a little digging around online in other locals, I ran across this: First off, want to establish credibility: I am a Federal Firearms Licenced Manufacturer with an Special Occupational Tax Stamp (basically I can make surpressors and machine guns) and have been around firearms 30 years now. I we...

Re: Tracers through a suppressor?
These don't light in the barrel - they don't illuminate until about the 50 meter mark. And, they are older than dirt - so some don't even light.

Tracers through a suppressor?
First, allow me to fully admit that I am aware that tracers in a suppressor (5.56) completely negate the idea of low-signature. However, I seem to have about 3,000 tracers that really have no use other starting the brush pile burning. I live on a large farm in the middle of WV and have plenty of out...

Re: Finally, the stamp is here and I have my can.
Congrats. Let me know what you think about the YHM. I'm currently waiting on a QD 762 and thread-on 556. Thank you. I shall post a range report on Sunday Evening. My idea is to do an initial zero at 25m without the can. During that time, I will use the db meter on my iPhone (crappy, I know) to take...

Re: Finally, the stamp is here and I have my can.
Yeah - apparently no one told me.... bastages... It sucks that I have to save up the $$ for the can and the stamp, then pay for the can and the stamp, then wait. It would be soooo much nicer if I could just wait and save at the same time, then pay when the stamp was approved. I know it goes by seria...

Re: Finally, the stamp is here and I have my can.
Nice, what is it YHM QD stainless 556 or 762? Love my 762 :D too much fun. It is the YHM QD Stainless 5.56. And now, I think I'm addicted. And this creates a problem for me. I've got an FN-FAL L1A1 (7.62mm) that could use a can. 2 9mm carbines that could certainly use one. A slew of .22s, including...

Finally, the stamp is here and I have my can.
http://img.fae.ro/b62cd6.jpeg I am a happy camper. Since I don't have any optics for this build yet, I removed the 45 degree irons and replaced them with a set of MBUS sights. It won't be until Sunday when I can go to the range and sight it in - planning on sighting it in with the can as I don't th...
