My first Can... 2nd video attempt

Yes, it can be legal to make a silencer. For everything Form-1, from silencer designs that are easily made, to filing forms with the BATF, to 3D modeling. Remember, you must have an approved BATF Form-1 to make a silencer. All NFA laws apply.

My first Can... 2nd video attempt

Post by dave.223 »

Ok, so I did a video on my first build a while back, and it turned into a 1.5 hour video in which I got into way too much nonsense detail, and got criticism for it.
So heres my second attempt at it.

Let me know what you all think. Trying to do my part of spreading awareness and supporting the gun community.

And like last time, lets not get into all this "was it legal?" stuff. I got it all figured out, yes it was legal.

Compliments on your presentation, ingenuity, and
final production.

Thank you for sharing. Proof that younger generation
has not lost excitement and joy of producing 'metal magic'.

Background range's beauty complements your

Great job, well done, I have long thought suppressors ridiculously over priced in the US. Hopefully this sort of build will help drag prices to a sensible level.

Good job mate.

I think I dinged you for the length last time, this one borders on entertaining.

You already got props from two of the brightest minds on this board so what I say shouldn't matter much.

That reminds me a lot of my first suppressor build.

I used double spring valve retainers.

I had very limited tooling. But, I had determination, and after some work, it all turned out in the end.

After hearing how it sounds on your rimfires, you should be proud of yourself.

Is that the mighty mighty Wix filter tube? Before I just keep peppering you with questions, did you post a build thread?

No it isn't a wix can. I don't remember posting a build thread. If I did, it would've been about 12 years ago and would probably be archived by now.

It's one of the first "all purpose" cans ever made. I made it from 4140 chromemoly steel body, spacers, and titanium baffles (steel blast baffle) to keep the weight as low as possible. And chambered it in 9mm.

That way, I could shoot basically anything I could attach it to through it from 22lr to 357 max and 223 to 308 and other high power 30 caliber stuff in general through it.

Yes, I was thinking ahead of the curve. At the time I made it, everyone was concentrating on just shooting a single caliber through their silencers.

It's a little too heavy to fire on handguns, but on fixed barrel carbines, sounds really good.
