In completely unrelated news, I made this lightweight carrier the other day. Just has to go to heat treat, blast, and then to coater for QPQ.

Re: Building a 22/24 integral can
Sorry there hasn't been an update in a while. I've been a little tied up with other things (work, building a kitchen table, etc). The search for .22 ammo still continues. I have the misfortune of making myself buy another 1930rds for........$204!@$%#^@$% that'll be coming in this week. Hopefully on Sunday/Monday I'll have some time to cut the receivers and get this project back on track.
Small ammo fort thus far.

Nice!!
Started as bar stock?
What steel did you use for these?
Part back from QPQ yet?

From barstock, made from 8920. I think I might end up getting them plated with 3M NiB. I have a pile of them that still need deburring, then I have to figure out what I'm doing with them all.
I did test out one extra that just after it got back from heat treat. I through a raw gas key and a black nitride bolt in it and it ran just fine. If I remember correctly, it's just over 7oz fully assembled.

nice work, looking forward to your project!
Re: Building a 22/24 integral can
It's been a while. I was waiting in search of a lathe chuck for the 4th axis for my machine as well as finding some sound meters for testing. Looks like I'm almost there. Now I just have to find some microphones.

Dusting off this project. And coming up with a few different monocore designs.
I posted to the F1 cans FB group and the responses went as expected....
them:"that's a bad design"
me: How so?
them:"it's just bad"
me: ..... thanks

I like the 3rd, out of the given.
More features would aid in suppression.
Any particular reason you want a core, other than "I want a core"?
Seems that in today's market, stacks are beating cores. And design features aren't terribly intricate.
The Rugged Oculus is putting out fantastic reduction numbers and their cones just have a simple step feature.
I'm using a similar design, with a different clipping profile and I'm quite sure of a wonderful product.

Re: Building a 22/24 integral can
Well better delayed then never. Now that eForms is back and lightening fast, I FINALLY submitted my Form 1 on Nov 8th and got it back this past Saturday, so it's time to get serious about this project.
Over the last year, I also decided to switch to a Mark IV instead of my original Mark III, due to the improved take-down design.
This evening I order a bushing to delete the magazine safety and some seamless 0.065" wall 316 stainless tubing.

Re: Building a 22/24 integral can
Have some free time over the next week, so I'll be able to get some baseline data on a variety of ammo through the factory length 5.5" barrel. My plan is to use the Magnetospeed to collect some velocity data. The intention is to shorten the barrel to get consistent sub-sonic velocities even with bulk pack ammo.
