Historian's Resource Page

Yes, it can be legal to make a silencer. For everything Form-1, from silencer designs that are easily made, to filing forms with the BATF, to 3D modeling. Remember, you must have an approved BATF Form-1 to make a silencer. All NFA laws apply.

 You found my baby belt fed from the home gunsmith site! Man, that was a lot of fun to do.

I'm going to eat s--t for this, but it's still not done. All it needs is anodizing and park. Just have to get off my ass and finish her.

I think I'm a little afraid that it won't function as I'd like in the sense that the Lakeside belt feed upper is known to be finicky. I do have the Razorback bolt... that is supposed to fix 95% of the full auto issues associated with the LM-7. I'm glad I bought one - the LM-7. No longer in production and now slowly becoming collectible. A little swiss watch of a firearm mechanism.
My sincerest respect for your metal mastery, design, precision, and excellent tutorial!

A standard that motivates and inspires one to hone their skills.

Single-Point-Threading on Lathe/ Never Stop Learning & Improving

Found this clear step by step exposition of
single point threading on lathe ... including the
number of cuts per depth.

Hopefully it will help in reducing the number of SCREW ups
that one must go through to become proficient.

Been thinking about using an end cap similar to this in my next .308 build (a one piece end cap and baffle).
But then I do not see this in any modern builds.
Reasoning?

"Making Female Spheres"

Ran across this interesting technique for making inner sphere/cup
on lathe.

Notional baffle design suggests itself of an 'I-beam' cross section baffle
with a spherical cups on both sides. When stacked together
they create spherical chambers, an easy to disassemble mono core.

Reminiscent of a bartender's Double Jigger Shot Liquor Measuring Glass.

Thanks to the Good Capt. for suggesting my adding information
included in another post:

Lathe Milling Attachment:

e.g., << https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vVUK-h-0iWQ >>

Uses: making a larger winter-glove trigger guard, monocores, etc.
Making a tool to hold another tool.

Unimat lathe slotted table for lathe milling machine:

<< http://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/MTIwMFgxNjAw/ ... o0/$_1.JPG >>

This sturdy table fits firmly into the jaws of the milling attachment and gives one
serious holding of odd shaped parts to work with that the small jaws do not.

I use two Atlas 618 milling attachments in tandem on my modified cross slide.
Into which I have positioned a Unimat milling table. This 'long' double
extended milling configuration creates a wide and very stable
table for working on parts that would otherwise
twist with one milling attachment.

Note: end mills held securely and safely with the ER collet system.

Following up on making a small lathe cranking handle
that allows for accurate single point threading this YouTube
tutorial may prove useful:

Especially helpful for careful internal threading of tubes.

Bust Pressure for Tubes in an article of the

For example:
