I know this stuff is supposed to be impossible to cut. But if I wanted to make an attempt at building inconel or Stellite baffles, how would I go about it?

Where do I buy?

What shapes would I buy?

What tools would you recommend? I assume grinders are mandatory.

You got guts if you want to try machining Stellite for a Form1 can!

You will have better luck with Inconel than Stellite.

If your machine has the rigidity (and balls) you can get inserts for 625 and 718 inconel.

Satellite is a cobalt alloy and is a HUGE PITA to machine. You could grind it or burn (edm) the stellite if you can find a small quantity distributer.

If you want hardness you can buy 17-4 condition A, due your machining, harden it then finish machine.

Long baffle life can be had without the need for aerospace materials through design of the suppressor.You can cut inconel with S-7 or M-42 tools if you hold your mouth just right.The grinder you need for the stellite should cost no more than 3,500.00$ plus the cost of the lathe to hold it.

Everyone may already know this, but in any case Stellite is the material often used to make automotive exhaust valve seats. I used to work in an automotive machine shop rebuilding heads and I can tell you Stellite is tough stuff.

It is most famously used to line Ma Deuce barrels! Insanely tough and strong.

You can cut inconel if you machine is up to the task. Carbide tools are a given. Keep the SFM under 60-80. Coolant is mandatory.

Do you need any 625?
