'Helical Baffle Technology'

Yes, it can be legal to make a silencer. For everything Form-1, from silencer designs that are easily made, to filing forms with the BATF, to 3D modeling. Remember, you must have an approved BATF Form-1 to make a silencer. All NFA laws apply.

From Thunder Beast 30P-1 description. What is that - or is it just marketing gibberish?

I have to disagree with this statement. If you research various patents by a gentleman named Gregory Latka his patents have adequate drawing. He was a founding member of Gemtech If I remember correctly.

Have you actually looked at the baffles in the TBAC being referred to here?

Not very helical, definitely spiral fluted.

Can't really tell what the whole thing looks like from those pictures into the tube.

Is there a pic or drawing or sketch of one that's been taken apart?

Just curious since I saw that & didn't know what it meant.

As they say in business real estate, Location, Location, Location,
so in sound reduction it is Volume, Volume, Volume.

It would be so nice if the Aston Martin tuned mufflers were the size of
say a Gemtech Tundra, so much more room for added features.

If I get some time I shall prepare a mini précis on the lazy mathematician's
geometerizing/visualizing the multiple relationships involved that I have used
for lazy 'slide rule' comparison of effectiveness.

Russians did impressive math in 1960's on
Non Linear Wave Propagation in Layered Media in Doklady Akademii Nauk Journals.

All the tedious equations could be mapped to 'Road Runner in a negligee
being chased by Wylie Coyote in an Elvis long fringe suit'
pictures. :) :)

For example Phase Space pictures on non-linear coupled differential equations
best seen and give more informational relationships. OOPS! Sorry for disorienting some with such 'dirty'
talk.

they say tbac is quieter than aac ,i do not think so , tbac is 99% aac design , aac - 10 baffles tbac 9 baffles with larger spacers , due to machined flutes it comes heavy as an anchor with stainless steel so titanium is the answer .

Still looks spiral fluted.

Helical is a completely different look, there are successful cooling systems that use helical baffles that are actually helical.

As has been pointed out in the past, the flutes on the TBAC baffles are neither helical, or spiral. They are cut in a straight line along an angle. What you are seeing as "sprial" is an optical illusion.
There are no "ex-Marines", just Marines who arent active anymore.

I pulled one of those out of my insinkerator ... do I have to register it?

Come on! This is the base of a French Swirl Chocolate dessert that used to
be served at L'Espalier Restaurant in Boston in the '70s. Butter creme chocolate,
Kahlua, raspberry sauce, topped with a cherry.

I would to be safe.

The one I've posted even had the offset front lip and venting half way up the cone 8)

I used to have a pic of a SMG can that began with a coiled flat spring outside of a ported expansion tube to use this theory. There are mathmatical formulae that dispute its effectiveness.
It would work better if it featured tiny 1/64" bleeder holes around the far endcap. This way the gases could vent forward rather than stagnating partway down the length of the spring. Alternatively, the bleeder holes could vent into the outside of the first K-baffle.
I have never tried it, but wonder if a series of 1/64" bleeder holes around the outside of the far endcap would help pull gasses away from the boreline and therefore be more effective. Or would this simply increase the normalization rate to atmospheric pressure?

57fairlane's pic would be more effecient if the "teeth" were facing internally. This would provide plenty of heatsink surface area, lower Overall weight, and double as a blastchamber sleeve. The wedge-shaped teeth would also help collapse/cancel wavefronts like an anachoic chamber used in sound recordings.

Wouldn't making the teeth face inward actually create a larger effective aperture thus allowing more gas to pass through the baffle more quickly thus making it less efficient?

Baffles do not block or cancel sound ... there is no "sound" until the gas leaves the final aperture of the suppressor.
