I'm working on a k baffle design for a 22 hornet. I've attached some images for review an advice. Any design tips appreciated.
skirt and cone wall thicknesses 0.062
cone angle 60 degrees
0.995 OD for a 1.125 OD tube
overall length 0.869
bore dia. 0.265
neck width between skirt and cone 0.100
angled hole 0.250 @ 35 degrees from x axis
straight surface at the top of the cone 0.069 (contacts tube)
How large should should I make the blast chamber?

Re: K Baffle design questions [with pics]
Lose the angled hole and cut a straight plunge through the underside of the skirt.

OK thanks for the reply. I've taken your suggestion. I straightened the hole and reduced the diameter. I offset it by 0.100 and the new dia. is 0.1875. How does this look?
What about the blast chamber? How does 0.750 blast chamber sound?

That cut will NOT help you, this is far worse than the angled cut.
You need to cut from two sides, front and rear, at 3 and 9 O clock so to say..
there are several good pictures and Enfield made a great instructional even had some nice pictures of a sectional cut baffle.
use the ST search function to help you.

but WhiperFan's K shows the port being cut at an angle and depicts a scoop being cut at the leading edge of the "K" which is DOA.doubloon wrote:WhisperFan's k baffle thread viewtopic.php?t=17116

Its not that its a 'no-go', but if you use a ball mill to plunge vertically into the face to provide the scoop, then flip the baffle and repeat the process, just 180* out from the face scoop, you're going to have better results.
Think of it like this: face scoop is at 12 o'clock; you want the skirt vent to be at 6 o'clock. What happens then is after the bullet passes, the jet of gas tries to squirt through the hole. A significant part of that jet hits the scoop and is turned across the jet; the port in the skirt gives that deflected gas a place to go after getting turned.
Make sense?
